Overall an average site, very poor toilet/shower block which was not kept replenished with toilet rolls regularly enough. Leaking water waste pipes, no hand driers and generally too many people on the site for the amount of toilets/showers/washing up. There were no level pitches anywhere that we could see which made for an uncomfortable night's sleep. The bar and climbing area were excellent though and definitely raised the overall rating of the site.
Good location, large pitches. We arrived on a Saturday and it was very busy, the shower blocks were very dirty and almost constantly in use. That said when most people left on Sunday they had been cleaned. Maybe need larger or another toilet / shower block to cope with high demand. I'd visit again, just wear flip flops in the shower
It's a good location and very pretty surroundings. We were told we hadn't booked 2 plots even though had paid the extra for an additional tent for each night and left a note so had to squeeze 2 tents into our 1 plot. It could do with more toilets and showers as a busy bank holiday meant a lot of queuing at times and as we were placed at the back a 5 minute walk each way to use the facilities even in the middle of the night.
Lovely camp site, particularly for families. Really good facilities, friendly staff, not too noisy at night. We had a great weekend and will be going back!
Stayed for a weekend with a group of friends. We were put in the top field which runs alongside the main road, the noise from the road made it feel like we were sleeping by the M25! Two other big groups in our field who stayed up playing music to 3am despite the 11pm curfew. Loos and showers were ok but quite run down. Climbing centre and bar was the highlight. Would not come again
This campsite reserved exactly the type of pitch I was looking for a spacious electric pitch for my campervan and awning next door to a non-electric pitch for our friends' tent and were very helpful throughout. Far Peak is a great informal camping location and we'll be going back!
Great site for family's and big groups with a very relaxed vibe during both times we have stayed here. The climbing centre, bar and cafe in site are all top with love music on thoughout August
This was our second stay, as a family of 4, in the Glamping Pods, which all have fantastic views and facilities. There is a large gas BBQ grill with side hob, which made cooking for our family and friends really easy; The fire pit was great for sitting around at night, toasting marshmallows and socialising with friends; and when you go to bed the log burning stove kept the pod lovely and warm all night. The folding luggage trolley for the mountain of stuff we took was a godsend for lugging it to and from the car. If you enjoy climbing, or have kids that love to climb, then there are fantastic facilities for this, both indoors and outdoors, with high climbing walls and brilliant bouldering walls. The instructor with our group of kids was very patient and supportive. You can buy food and drinks on site, including wood fired pizzas. Unfortunately the external catering company during the daytime had let them down at short notice during our stay, however there are several nice pubs and lovely towns with eating options a short drive, cycle, or longish with kids walk away. We had a fantastic stay and will hopefully do so again.
Overall a good site. Toilet facilities were ok, showers were hot every time we used it which makes a change from some camp sites. The site is on a hill so it is a lucky dip on how flat your pitch is. Ours was ok so no complaints from me on this. With the size of the site, I did feel it wouldnt hurt to add some additional facilities in to accommodate the numbers as some days as become extremely busy. Cafe and bar were good options although didn't use loads.. Little on pricey side for the cost per night....but every site is same at present, so not marking down for that as would be unfair. Some Complaints that are not necessarily directed at the site it self, more to other campers and outside food vendors... PIZZA VENDOR - There was an onsite pizza vendor one night and we waited in a que for half hour only to get to the front and be told none left...maybe if running out, pass a message along to customers that this is occuring and they can decide to wait it out and see if availability. DOG OWNERS - Unfortunately some dog owners had their own rules for their dogs and let them do what they wanted despite the site explaining rules. Saw two dogs go to toilet in field and owner oblivious to this so wasnt cleaned up. Also one dog continually came over to our area and made me feel uncomfortable. I totally get they are 'mans best friend', but people need to understand not everyone is comfortable with dogs. NOISE - open field, noise travels. Consideration needs to be given more to other users of the site, after the curfew set by the sites
This campsite has big feelds, but undulating. Finding the right 'flat' spot for a tent can be a bit difficult. Because the feelds are big, it can be a bit of a walk to the sanitary building, which can be annoying at night if you have to go to the toilet. Even though, we asked if we can get a spot closer to the toilets and that was no problem at all because it was not very crowded. The guy from the campsite showed us another spot closer to another sanitary building. There were no others on that feeld so we had our own feeld! It was a bit close to the road and we could hear the traffic, but that didn't matter to us. The sanitary buildings are clean and have a power outlet for hairdryers, shavers or charging phones. The showers are hot but adjacant to the outside so it can be very cold when you turn off the shower. The location is in the middle of the cotswolds, with beautiful surroundings and lovely villages.
