We dined at the Fickle Pickle for the first time and had a lovely experience. The food is nothing fancy, but it was a great casual spot for an affordable “diner style” meal. I was a bit cautious of our choice due to the many negative reviews posted recently, but am glad we decided to come anyways! Our server and initial hostess were both very pleasant, attentive and helpful. We dined as a group of 5, off-hours during a weekend afternoon. Were seated at a clean and large table and were 1 of about 3 other tables in service at the time. The food took some time to arrive, but with staff shortages and not being in a rush, it wasn’t a bother at all. Food was good, not great, but exactly what we were craving for a casual afternoon. Thanks for a great meal - all for less than $110 including tax and tip!
I'm glad this restaurant is keeping up the tradition of the winter music festival. We enjoyed not only the wonderful concert, where our favorite musicians performed, but also the delicious food. The restaurant was packed but we didn't have to wait long for food. Delicious eggs Benedict, burgers and chicken wings.
Amazing restaurant with some amazing staff and the owner herself cooks the meals. We had visited the restaurant at the Winter song music festival at Stouffville. Had ordered the Haliburt fish and chips with a delicious salad and tartar sauce which was simply mouthwatering . Had the home made rice pudding for dessert prepared by the owner herself, was filled with exquisite flavor and lots of love. Will definitely visit again
Good for breakfast but it’s so busy on weekend mornings. Love the food it’s amazing.
This is one of the oldest eating joint in Stouffville serving wholesome meals starting from morning breakfast to evening dinners. I have tried lunch and dinner here in the past but I always wanted to go there for breakfast. About 10 of us decided to go there for breakfast on 24 Dec morning right after the winter storm of the decade! We were not sure even if they would be able to open right after the storm. But amazingly they did open and right at 8am. They were short staffed just 2 of them manning the kitchen and the floor. I was skeptical whether we would manage to go ahead with our plan of having breakfast there or not. Beside our big team there where quite a few of their regular patrons too who had come for breakfast. But amazingly they were fantastic in managing to get us seated, take our orders, refill our coffees and serve us some hot wholesome breakfast!! Their dedication and fortitude to serve their customers the hot meal for which they had turned up under such weather conditions was amazing and highly appreciated!
Very disappointed. Having worked with the public for years I am very understanding when it comes to customer service and maybe too much so. However this time I really feel the need to share our experience. My husband and I went in on a slow Monday morning with my two children. The waitress was not friendly when greeting us and continued to show her annoyance while huffing and rolling eyes around the restaurant. We were denied a booth to accommodate our stroller and were put in a tight spot. The waitress who served our table was friendly but service was slow, we didn’t mind we had time. I asked for a booster for my toddler and I was provided with two broken booster seats no straps, which is completely unsafe. We were told that is all they had. The entire restaurant smelled of gas and the restaurant was unclean leftover food underneath our table and greasey floors and tables. After waiting over 10 minutes for a cup of water and a coffee, the water finally arrived. However, we had decided to leave because this experience was not going well. An unkind comment was exchange between the waitresses as we left. We never ended up getting our food order in, so I can’t speak on the food. Will not be back and would not recommend.
One of the worst food experiences we have had here. I ordered the chicken, souvlaki dinner, the chicken tasted old, and the rice was all stuck together. The Cajun chicken wraps had no spice at all, and it had no flavor. It was obvious the person that got this did not know what they were doing. The waitstaff and Kirk were more interested in watching a parade outside and then serving. The best part of the meal was the lemon meringue pie, but they serve cold coffee with it. It’s unfortunate because I went there for breakfast recently and it was very good. But what a bad experience on last night. Dinner cost $147 for four people, I don’t mind spending money on a good dinner, but this was outrageous.
Very slow service all around. Took a while to get seated and many staff just ignore you rather than say they will sit us down soon. One young man just left because they ignored him so long. Once we sat down, very long wait to see the server. I almost left. The place wasn’t even that busy at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon. Then the food took forever. We saw one table leave because they could not wait any longer. One table said if the the food is not already being prepared they are leaving. We saw a another table also leave before they ordered because they saw how many people were complaining. The server indicated the four cooks are very backed up and yet the restaurant is only 30% full with the majority of people waiting a long time for food. If they are so backed up, where is all the food coming out. I guess if they have a lot of Uber eats orders then that can back up the kitchen but if that is the case then maybe I should order Uber Eats next time to get my food faster. Once we got the food, it was actually good. I have come here multiple times in the past and had a better experience but I don’t think I will be trying my luck again hoping for reasonable service. If the owner reads this, take a look at the numerous reviews complaining about the same thing again and again over time. It’s no good to inform staff about the feedback if nothing ever changes.
Yes this restaurant could use some love in some areas and some might think it needs a modern touch however I think it's placed perfectly in the town of Stoffville with a very cozy feel where regulars like to dine. Server was very nice and we had breakfast which was great. Looking out the front window on to the passing cars, is nice to relax and slow down as everyone else races by.
I do not tell people what they should do. I will state that positive communication with your customers will go a long way. Your severs should be aware of the customers in their area and when they came in. Simply apologing to a customer and letting them know what the delay is will go a long way.Food: 2/5
