This Indian style Hakka Chinese restaurant is one of the pioneer in the field in Scarborough. The food quality wad decent but not as per the expectations. The items were not very flavourful and to a bit on salty side. Portion sizes were decent and same can be said about the price. The service was relatively quick but improvements are needed.
i’ve heard so much about this place in Scarborough. I lived in Scarborough, my whole life and only been here once. I came today with a friend to show off the Scarborough cuisine and I was a little disappointed. Maybe even a little embarrassed. The food came out pretty quickly, but it was not hot. The rice was OK and the vegetables were a little saucy. The worst part was the service. I had to ask for a glass to drink water. I had to ask for my cheque. The server didn’t pay any attention to me and my guest. It was very weird for a Scarborough joint. Oh well.
Many moons ago when I used to work the late night Chili Chicken was always on my mind... And it's been some time since I've been able to come down to taste it. Tonight I had the hankering and boy did Frederick's deliver!nStill great flavor, great heat and generous portions. While a lot of things change. I'm so glad that Frederick's remains the same.
I recently visited this restaurant and ordered fried seafood rice, fried shrimp noodles, and a pineapple ice cream. The food was decent, but the pricing left me disappointed. The total came to around $65, which seemed reasonable at first. However, I later realized that a service charge of about $10 had already been included in the bill—something that wasn’t clearly mentioned when it was presented.nnNot knowing this, I added a 15% tip on top, essentially tipping twice. I wish the staff had pointed out the automatic service charge, as transparency in billing is important. While I enjoyed the meal, this lack of clarity made the overall experience less enjoyable. I’d recommend checking your bill carefully before tipping.
In the area about to head home decided to pickup up a light dinner. Wish we had did a dine in but it was late.nnVegan Tofu Manchurian - the sauce/gravy was completely different from the usual we Hakka Manchurian we have. It tasted more sweet and sour sauce/gravy. The Tofu fried and was super soft inside.nnThe Vegan Fried Rice without any eggs was OK. It was bland for a Hakka fried rice. We found that not only the spice was less but also less seasoned. Hot sauces provided didn’t help much.
