Farmers State Bank

They have the highest paying interest checking anywhere. We live in the Des Moines metro area and we still bank at Farmers.

We recently opened several accounts with this bank. We asked lots of questions ahead of time. Our last account was opened less than a week ago. Today 3 days before the end of the month they tell us that we have to change account type effective on the 1st of the month. The new account is a BAD deal for us. They knew they were changing last week but didn't say anything to us. They let us order 4 boxes of checks for an account that is now closed and wasted almost an hour and a half opening the account. This bank does have a wonderful small town feel however, they will lie right to your face if they can get you to open an account. And as for the checks you paid for and haven't received yet... Yep you guessed it don't look for a refund on those either.

Everytime I go in or drive up the staff treats me like a real person (if you know what I mean) and they are always smiling. Great rates on their checking accounts too. Way better than national banks.
