Absolute awesome local diner. The most reasonable prices I have seen outside of Halifax. $6.50 for a kids dinner plate with juice box and full size ice cream sandwich at the end. Adult meals are just amazing with healthy portions and absolutely delicious. Staff seem like family and are the friendliest people you'll ever meet. Paid less than $100 to feed ten of us. Left a healthy tip for this awesome local business!
We hadn't been to Farmers in around six years, as we had moved away, but we took a friend out with us today and we all enjoyed our various meals. I had the sweet and sour meatballs, and the others had the roast pork dinner special and the big double cheeseburger, which was super thick; she actually only ate it with one patty. Hubby had the lemon meringue pie, which he really enjoyed, and he is quite picky when it comes to whether it is properly balanced between sweet and sour. I had the fudge, which was perfect in my mind. We sat out in the back room facing the farm today, which was quieter than the other area and very bright. Both servers were wonderful and friendly and very "down-home hospitable". We always enjoyed eating here before and loved the homemade bread. We were given a bread bowl with three rolls and I believe one was whole wheat and the others were white and brown, so we split them so we could try everything. They were nice and fresh and really tasty like the buns our mothers used to make. We will definitely be back!
Found this diner when leaving Oaklawn Zoo. This diner was great. Had to wait longer than you usually would at a diner but that was because our burgers were cooked from fresh and you could tell no reheated burgers hereFood: 5/5
We had a great lunch at the Farmer's Family Diner. Local meat, home made bread and a great selection. I had the hot hamburger with fries, my boyfriend had the whistle dog and poutine and the kids had hamburger and fries. The hot hamburger was amazing, fresh local beef was amazing and the gravy was delicious. Great place for the family and an excellent stop on your way to or from Oaklawn Farm Zoo. The food was a big hit for the entire family. Everytime we visit the zoo we are sure to stop in for some home away from home cooking. The owners/workers are beyond nice and make you feel almost like family.
Wow talk about a home cooked meal! Have been doing keto for 4 months and lost 72 lbs oh, and was deciding to take a break oh, boy was I happy I picked this place to do it, LOL! That food was delish! The burger was no lightweight quarter pound Patty this had to be a 1/2 pound ground round cooked perfectly with fried onions gravy and homemade bread oh, OMG I was in heaven! Homemade gravy oh, and a side of onion rings, does life get any better! Well worth the drive! The ladies who run the place do a fantastic job taking care of the customers! Plenty of seating well spaced out masks were in use until seated hand sanitizer at the door all precautions were used! Love this place will be back for sure!
Really quick service and the food was quick and hot. Great servings as well. Here is the one piece fish and chips and the club sandwich.
Ordered the burger, very tasty, good size, got the onion rings for no extra charge. Lots of those too. Friendly service and a homey atmosphere.
I've come back to this place a few times over the years, this time around I decided to get a Roast Beef Sandwich with Lettuce and Mayo and fries as a side. The bread was more stiff, meaning it's definitely homemade and definitely more tasty than the stuff you typically find at the grocery store for example. Fries aren't salty although i can give the restaurant some slack for this because it's local and around the farm. I was indeed filled, however some may find the flies that always seem to be around here a bit of a turn-off for appetite, so I'll give it a 4/5.
The go-to delish spot for lunch after you've wandered around Oaklawn Farm Zoo in Aylesford NS. Home of the Colossal Clubhouse sandwich. Got a plate to split with my partner and we still couldn't finish it. Great desserts and goodies available for purchase as well! You might even meet one of the local pooches ready to greet in the large outdoor picnic area!
Colossal club 10/10. Must have. Burgers 9/10 Huge and juicy Fries 5/10 Seemed baked and from a bag Mashed potato 7/10 Overall definitely delicious but the sides need work.
