We had a wonderful evening at Eva with the entire family. We sat outside on the patio with two young kids, it was spacious and they had room to play on the benches. Our server Cole was super friendly and attentive. He helped us with all our decisions. The wine selection was great, and they even had one of our favourites from Else Winery. The Schnitzel was delicious and enormous as is to be expected since it’s their signature. What really surprised us was all the small bites and plates. Our favourites were the chicken liver mousse, Tartar, and the pretzels/pickles were a hit with the kids. Overall a great experience and an opportunity to try delicious German food in a great setting. We’ll definitely be back, maybe to try brunch, since it’s a family friendly spot that hits all the right notes.
Lovely second visit to Eva. Service was especially friendly and welcoming. My wife and I shared a couple of small plates, a huge tasty salad and the regular schnitzel. Honestly sharing a few dishes is the way to go the portions are generous and you might as well leave some room for a few cocktails and a glass of wine. The atmosphere sitting at the bar was perfect. The staff were all friendly and attentive. All our food came out super fast but we didn't feel rushed and enjoyed drinks throughout our meal.
PROS: - Food is pretty good but a deep fried schnitzel makes it a little greasy. I prefer pan fried schnitzels - Service is quick and friendly - Location is great with lots of parking nearby - Signage to the washrooms are funny. CONS: - It is a bit noisy inside. Acoustics are lacking. OVERALL: This place will give you A tasty German/ Austrian food experience.
The food seemed authentic, tasted great, and had a cozy atmosphere complete with photos of the Swiss Alps. I appreciate their inclusion of the Eggplant Schnitzel as a vegetarian option. While not quite as amazing as the pork Schnitzel my wife had, it was still delicious alongside the spatzel and a cocktail featuring a German spirit. Vegetarian options: Has vegetarian options, so you'll have something if you want to go here with non-vegetarians. However, the lack of variety doesn't have me recommending this for dedicated vegetarians.
A solid vibe with authentic German style food. If you’re after some tasty and authentic German food and beer, this is your best option in the city. The location is excellent, situated just off of Wharf Street. The service is friendly and the vibe is chill. Only downside is that the food options aren’t cheap, but the portions are generous.
Excellent short menu of German classics done exceptionally well. The endive, apple and walnut salad was fresh and bright, and the beef tartare had a delicious through-note of mustard and was presented beautifully. The schnitzel is huge - enough for 2 to share with a few smaller plates - and magnificently crunchy. The mushroom sauce, morels and spaetzle were a perfect combination, as was a side of greens to cut the richness. Good drink options but very limited cocktail menu. Service was very nice and prompt with requests but just too infrequent with only one front of house staffer.
Jesus Christ the food here is so good. And the servers were top notch, just chill and fun and efficient. Made some jokes and chatted, then got right to it. Unknowingly I had dropped my napkin, at some point I went to use, and there was a fresh one right there, holy cow. Plus fun cows on the wall, double great. We got the Currywurst + beers to start. Yum yum. Then the Jagerschnitzel + Mustard/ Leek Cream. Both so good... Will be back. Thank you very much Colin and Cole. . Cheers!
My partner and I visited Eva Schnitzelhaus for dinner, and had a wonderful experience. I heard about Eva through a friend, and was pleasantly surprised to find that they had gluten free schnitzel with a dedicated gluten free fryer celiac win!!. I had the gluten free jagerschnitzel, which is pork schnitzel with a mushroom gravy. I had this with cucumber salad and roesti which is like a hash-brown square. It was very good! Takes me back to going to a german restaurant with my Oma as a child. My partner had schweinschnitzel with roesti and red cabbage. He also thoroughly enjoyed it. Also the food came in lightning speed - I was shocked! I'll definitely be back to this local gem. It's modern yet rustic atmosphere, tasty food and rapid service puts it high on my list.
We had such a good experience here. Actually lucked out getting into a couple other places first but glad we ended up here. Service was excellent and the food was something I wouldn’t have sought out but it was very good. Would definitely return. Btw the schnitzel is enormous. All plates in general I would say are better for sharing.
Service can be a bit slow when restaurant is busy but otherwise absolutely loved and enjoyed everything we ordered especially the liverwurst brioche even my 10 yrs old approved.
