That place is disgusting. I have been there on both sides of the visiting table. The entire place smells like a combination of urine and dirty feet. The cells are nasty in every sense of the word. They are not cleaned between one inmate leaving and a new inmate arriving. That place was so bad that the Feds had to step in and straighten the place out due to the high suicide rate. I have stayed there before and after the Feds and the only two changes were that you are not allowed to keep your shoe laces and the Deputies have to respond to you when you call them. My first time there my diamond ear-ring was never entered into my property, meaning the deputies never inventoried it, meaning it was stolen by a cop in the search-room. 6 months later that same cop was fired for stealing property from incoming inmates. My last time there (a few months ago), I was released by the judge however I was not let out of the jail for over 24 hours, meanwhile I was complaining the entire time and went through 2 Sergeants. I remember clearly remember telling the 2nd Sgt "Hey Sarge, I was released ten hours ago, why am I still here?" He swiftly said "Yeah I wanna go home too, guess we all cant get what we want." He didn't even take down my name to investigate the matter. It took a call to my lawyer to get the paper pushed through. All in all, the Erie County Holding Centre (yes it is spelled french), is a sh*thole. I have been in 2 neighboring county jails, they are clean and we are treated like humans. Not like this place at all.
