This is the most beautiful place in Barrie - you can enjoy the fire, a view of the waterfront, the lovely staff and the DELICIOUS food! Their coffee is heavenly, the tea of course, speaks for itself. But you must try the soup, sandwiches, baked potatoes, scones... You can't go wrong! And don't forget to check out the shop full of the most unique gift items - all with a British flare! Why spend the money on airfare, when you can go to England right downtown. Highly recommended
Most excellent tea shop with a great cream tea try the scones with raisins, made in house and a delightful view of the waterfront. Even better is the gift shop - worth a browse, with offerings from the UK and from local area artists and artisans. A wonderful place to take a break and relax!
This is the most relaxing cuppa in town. It's a fresh take on the classic chintz filled British tea room with a modern and comfortable approach. The soup! Sooo good and made right there in their tiny kitchen. You have to go for lunch early to get a some! It comes in a generous bowl with a big hunk of crusty bread and real butter all for $5!. All of the food is delicious and the service is friendly. The girls work hard making your lunch and bring it with a smile. Being there is a lot like being at home except you don't have to do dishes The whole place is enjoyable and I highly recommend it. It's also the best place in town to get a gift.
English & Miller is an absolutely fantastic place and possibly my favourite spot in Barrie. Being dangerously close to my place of work I end up going there at least once a week. The food is fresh and delicious, and the soup is amazing. It can be super busy there and the ladies always do their best to stay on top of it and make sure that the customers have everything they need or want. If you haven't been, you need to.
reserved a table for 7 to celebrate my granddaughter coming home from alberta for Christmas. They gave us the room, it was cold and had no atmosphere of the tea room. The service was terrible the waitress took our orders with the comments that they could only do 3 baguets only had one serving of leek and potatoe soup and just seemed unwelcoming and uninterested, maybe she was tired so I forgave that, it's the season to be tired and I know how hard some waitresses have to work, but she never came back into the room to see if we needed more water in our teapots, if we needed anything at all. It's not cheap to eat there and I think they should make a better effort to at least give you more water if you need it. I was going to book it for our women's luncheon but I don't think so...... it's lost that 'feeling' of a homey tearoom ,it's just eat and pay now, pity it's not special any more.
I can't comment on the tea or the food, as my family and I have been refused to be served twice. Today, my daughter and her friends arrived at 4:15 for afternoon tea. They were told,in a not too friendly manner, that they were closed. My daughter commented that the website says 5:30 and there were people seated being served. They left. In March my daughters and I had the same experience, told they were closed, when people were obviously seated. Not sure what the problem is, but the website should at least be updated. Also, if they are turning business away today that is definitely lost future business. My daughter was with 6 friends, that is 7 ladies that will never come back and tell their friends and so on.... to me that is poor public relations.
Lovely little place overlooking the bay. Staff is amazingly friendly and very welcoming. Definitely get the afternoon tea! It's a nice treat!
Really nice little place. Excellent location overlooking the bay. Cheese and Tomato sandwich was amazing. Coffee was acceptable. Very reasonably priced. Nice staff.
This cafe has great tea, a fantastic view, friendly staff and free WiFi, it is a great place to hang on a cold, bleak winter day.
Amazing food and great service! Loved the assortment of teas and the gift shop!
