I usually don't write reviews, but I hope by writing this I can save other alot of trouble. In the past I have always used h&r or Jackson Hewitt,I was told the actual accounting places are better and less expensive,so I decided to use Emery. When I showed up to my appointment they had me drop off last year's tax return paperwork,this year's w2, took a copy of my ID and said they would call me with any questions,and to tell me when to come sign. I thought this was weird seems I have always been there while someone had done my taxes,but they reassured me. I made sure to tell them I had moved ( my I'd had the wrong address,but my W-2 had the right one), and told them about my health insurance, a couple days later they called 2 more times with questions about my kids,and my health insurance,then had me come sign and pay.it cost only around a $100 less than previous years,Wich is nice but not a huge savings.a few weeks later I noticed they put the wrong address down,and a few days later I check my refund on the IRS website,and it said they had trouble with the bank,and will now be sending it to the address on my tax return...the Wrong address. I called Emery and they basically said they couldn't do anything,I had to just call the IRS myself and try and fix it. Thanks. After over 2 hours on the phone trying to fix it with the IRS,I have a change of address put in and pending,so hopefully they see it before it gets sent out,or it will be sent to the wrong address,sent back to the IRS,and then I will have to call again and it will be sent to the right address.In my experience they were not thorough at all,and made simple issue with my bank a huge hassle,delaying my refund in the least a month, and leaving me a huge mess to clean up. I am pretty curious how much different my refund could be if I took it somewhere else. This is the first time I have ever had issues filling my taxes.i would rather pay more ANYWHERE else and get an accurate prompt refund, will never use them again,and hope everyone thinks twice before using them.

I'm not an accounting person and I found errors they made, terrible at returning calls and high staff turnover. Was instructed to do things that are against IRS rules. Took many months to get my taxes done. Unacceptable! Justin Monk - look at my profile all you want. I call it as I experience it. Since you aren't me and don't know anything about me keep your judgement to yourself. High turnover matters because they have access to personal information. Not everyone operates like this. Might wanna double check your taxes if you've been having THIS firm handling them for that long!

Shawna has been my accountant for over Ten years. Yes she has high turnover but don't we all. She has always bent over backwards for us and very knowledgeable when it comes to tax laws. The one star review left by Leigh Scott doesn't sound like Shawna's company. Matter of fact if you look into his profile he's got a thing for giving one star reviews - maybe he's just one of those hard to please customers, just saying. Shawna is awesome, don't just take my word for it give her a call and see for yourself.
