Embe Bakery is a fantastic place to stop for a quick treat or a loaf of bread. The staff is always welcoming and friendly! One of my favorite spots to stop for a nice hot drink and some gluten free cookies on a rainy day.
The breads they sell are not the best on Island, though pretty good for the first day of eating it. The bakery itself is a popular spot for people to hang out for coffee or a bite. Parking and accessibility are acceptable, if not outstanding. Staff is always pretty nice and generally knows what's good and seems knowledgeable about the products they sell. The frozen dough for pizza is pretty nice and really affordable. If you want to make your own pizza without having to wait and knead your own dough, this is a pretty good way to go about it. Overall, I'm generally satisfied with this bakery. I am not, however, impressed by it like with some other's on Island if I taste their products. Very acceptable and sometimes surprisingly good.
I am sure that I’ve been going to the Embe Bakery every time I have visited Ganges in the last 40 years. Still in the same place. Still great food. Personal favourites include the butter tarts and the chocolate dipped peanut butter cookies. Give it a try.
Lots of amazing baked goods to choose from!! The cinnamon bun was my favourite! Highly recommend stopping here for some treats!
Best breakfast sandwich I’ve had I think I got sausage. For something sweet I really liked the flat pastry with white flakes on top forgot name - there’s actually chocolate filling inside For a snack I highly recommend the triangular bar dipped in chocolate. Might be among the best bars I’ve had. I would go back for this. Not everything was amazing tho - maybe good to try a few!
This used to be one of my favourites, but unfortunately the quality seems to have gone down dry, over cooked…. It is still a nice place to grab a quick drink and pre-made sandwiches for a picnic lunch.
A wide selection of baked goods and sweets. Unfortunately, some things looked stale when we went later in the day. Interior is a bit small, but there is outdoor patio seating. a pretty decently sized lot, and a bit on the edge of town, but still walkable from downtown core
The baked version of a bar of Gold! This quaint bakery of the edge of downtown Salt Spring is amazing. The workers are extremely friendly, and the food is even more delicious. We got an apple pie from the bakery for a friends birthday and it was delightful. The taste was smooth, just slightly tart, and just enough sweetness to blend the flavor together. They had a great selection, and had even had half priced bread that was just a day old!
Nice selection of chocolates and breads, as well as a great hot drinks selection. Lots of parking. One of the best hot chocolates I've ever tasted. Would recommend!
This bakery was bustling with customers yet the line of mostly locals moved quickly. There were a lot of regulars. One girl loved the “gluten free brownie”. A woman volunteered her family always got the “butter tarts”. But the lady behind the counter said the “Copenhagen” pastry was popular and the “choc dipped peanut butter cookie” too. So I got one of each of those two to try & brought them back to the boat to share. The cookie was soft with a few chopped nuts, just salty enough w/a nice dark chocolate dip. My favorite though, was that pastry! Inside 2” of flaky buttery layers was a surprise of Bavarian cream, a few currents or raisins, almond paste? The whole thing was amazing. I’m going back in the morning to try the apple pie to take home & freeze for later…. and maybe a few “Copenhagens”.
