5 stars for the food! Stopped for lunch during a snowmobiling trip and we were all impressed by the quality of the food. The Elk Chili was tasty and perfect for a chilly snowy day. Cornbread was really good too. Will be back!
A magical winter wonderland. Cabins are well stocked, beds and linens great! The rental snowmobiles are brand new! Restaurant is amazing! Great family place we have been here 13 timesRooms: 5/5
Rode the snowmobiles in for lunch. Outstanding food, drinks, and service. Trails were very wet and sloppy so we could not stay longer but looking forward to eating at the restaurant again soon.Service: 5/5
Very nice location but please be aware the cabins are very rustic. It was our first time staying at the resort. We felt the cabin was way over priced for what we got and it really needed a deep clean. We did enjoy a meal at the restaurant and appreciated the help at the marina with our kayak rental.
We got married here last Saturday, it was an amazing unforgettable experience. I want to give the resort, the owners, and the staff all 5 stars the big cabins are very very nice and updated 22,23 the smaller sleeps 6 cabins 19,20 are not amazing, my groomsman got accosted by a mouse at 3am and his wife got her muffin eaten by a mouse earlier that night… I personally feel for $300 ish dollars a night you shouldn’t have to defend yourself from the wildlife! if you are looking to have a wedding here I would absolutely recommend this place 100% it is beautiful, there are some thing that are not stated on the website when you inquire that are not told until you put down your non refundable deposit, the site fee $4,000 includes a huge tent all the chairs and tables, and all of the little things typically one would have to rent, the food is catered by Ken elk lakes caterer and it is amazing all of the props to him and his staff, there is a mandatory $3000 food and or beverage minimum , it had me worried at first about getting “nickled and dimed ” as we paid and checked out but Wendy the resort owner had emailed us a invoice a few hours before check out! If you are looking into getting married here I absolutely recommend it I just feel like you should know before inquiring! Thank you elk lake staff we will be back!
We just stopped here to see about getting ice cream. Apparently it is closed on Tuesdays or they were out of ice cream or didn't have enough staff to open the deli. In any case no food was being served. The lake and boat dock and boat rentals all looked lovely. We ended up going to Lava Lake resort which did have ice cream in their little shop. They also have a very nice front porch looking at the lake.
Horrible experience here today, Sunday 8/21. Sign says restaurant opens 11am for lunch. Arrived @ 12 to a line of people waiting for it to open. In the hot sun for 45 minutes when the hostess told us "to go" orders are placed at the Ice Cream window. We go to the window and the kid says he can't take our order for a 1/2 hr. When we asked to talk with the manager she got real huffy and said if you're going to be rude I will refuse you service. What service? We got none! The owner evidently can't keep anything running properly from the restaurant to the marina.
Certainly a great location and the customer service was good as was the food at the restaurant. The cabins are “rustic” and could have been cleaner. To break it out I would give 4 stars for food, service, and ambiance. However, I would only give two stars for the overall condition and cleanliness of the cabin. Silver Falls State Park has rustic cabins that are much better cared for at half the cost. I get that the winters at Elk Lake are pretty extreme and that makes it rough to keep things maintained, but I the high cost doesn’t reflect the lower level of quality I expected.
We rented a cabin, but actually we didn't end up staying the entire first night and decided to drive back to Bend and stay in a motel. The Cedar Creek fire was burning, the air was smoky, and there was a level 2 alert Be ready to leave at a moments notice. for a lake that was only 9 miles away. I actually was glad to leave because I fully agree with the some of the other reviewers that the cabin we rented #25 was very small, very dated, and poorly equipped - no room for a side table near the bed nor hangers in the closet. We chose the smaller bed because at least there was room to put a chair next to the bed to act as a side table. However, the mattress on that bed was inflexible and extremely uncomfortable. It felt like it had been made more than 50 years ago and even then would have been a cheap brand. It was very disappointing for the hefty price we were charged and lost - no refund was ever offered. I think at a different time the location would have been beautiful, so I was disappointed that we didn't get a chance to enjoy the lake.
Stayed in the glamping tents. Little chillier than we expected but beautiful and enjoyable experience. They seemed understaffed when we were there so they had a hard time keeping up with the number of guests hence the 3 stars on service.Rooms: 4/5
