I was greeted with stressed straight faces who seemed almost annoyed with my entry a one top table. they do not have cheese sauce, they offered me two salsas with no explanation of what they are, no napkins or silver ware given until asked. My Dr Pepper was all syrup no fizz. Chicken chimichanga was basically a deep fried chicken taco with cheeses cheese on a plate, no sauce, no peppers inside. Will not come back.
This place was alright. Food was OK, prices are on the high side. I ordered a plate of nachos, and while the meat, cheese, and other toppings on them were tasty, somehow all the chips were soggy and so I pretty much had a basically Nacho casserole. It did taste good though. They do serve desserts but they are not on the menu, and I may be reading too far into it, but it seems to me this may be on purpose. Because they charge $7 for a small, albeit decent, piece of pie. If they put that on the menu you probably wouldn't order it. It seems to me this may be an attempt to be misleading. I am reading others' reviews stating that they charged them for the bowl of chips they serve with the meal, the chips they give you, without asking, when you sit down. They did not do this to me, however between mine and others' experiences it seems they may possibly be trying to mislead. But again, I may be reading too far into it.
The best I have had in a long time. Going from South American to San Diego or Cozumel. The food was outstanding! Will eat again. Get the Verde sauce! Everything we ate was outstanding!
Best Mexican food in the county. Food is authentic, plentiful, flavorful, and not necessarily spicy. The chips and salsa that they bring to the table when you are seated, are NOT free. They cost $3. I was told it was changed in December 2021. They lose a star for this. The waitress got a 0.01% tip. The rest is in the chips. Prices on the menu have been raised at least twice that I'm aware of in the past 3-4 years. UPDATE 12-30-2022: I forgot that they charged me for chips and salsa last time and agreed to have them on my table. The menu used to say "no substitutions" or something to that effect. I asked about getting the Flour Combination Plate but with corn tortillas. Corn tortillas have half the carbs 16g of flour tortillas and those are 32g each! Plus corn is whole grain. I also inquired if doing that would reduce the current price of the Flour Combination Plate. I was told by the hostess that if you want the Flour Combination Plate with corn tortillas, you order the El Rancho Combination Plate. "A flauta and a chimichanga are basically the same thing. It was a difference of $3.50 so I ordered the El Rancho Combination Plate. Then I got on Google to see what a flauta was and found that it's closer to a taquito. The chimichanga is just a deep fried burrito. Not quite close enough. Also had to give up the quesadilla that comes with the Flour Combination Plate. Service was good, I didn't even get charged for the chips and salsa. It was a good meal but the refried beans tasted like they had been cooking too long. Features: One waitress wears a mask. The rest of the staff do not.
Do not waste your money! If you're looking for some real authentic Mexican food this is not the place for you! There was no seasoning in food, and the meat was watered down. The chicken was all mashed together like potatoes! I rarely give negative reviews on mexican restaurants. The chips and salsa were the only decent item they had. The service was also terrible. We asked for extra chips he never brought anymore. He said he had to go make some. But 2-mins after he walked away, I went to pay and there were plenty of chips. We also asked for napkins didn't get those either. He never asked for refills, it was just a horrible experience in general.
Really good authentic Mexican fare at reasonable prices. Service was excellent. They were very attentive to our needs all during supper. Update: even better today. Special burrito and specialty margaritas. Mucho Bueno. Update 4-26-22: As usual, the hostess Edith welcomed us to our table and sent Mindy over to take our order. Mindy was efficient, entertaining and attentive. The food was excellent again So were the drinks .
I really like this 2nd version of a Detroit staple! I have enjoyed both restaurants and the food is fabulous. Service was great.Food: 5/5
Avoid this restaurant. The last two times I've gone I've ended up with extra items added onto my bill that didn't make sense and others at the table once I pointed it out noticed it on their bill too. The owner is overcharging and hopes you don't notice. Latest trick is they now charge $3 for the tiniest bowl of chips and watery salsa. Once you finish they ask if you want more then charge another $3. Very sneaky. Go elsewhere other places don't charge for chips and salsa and you get more chips in a big basket and better salsa. Other than that the food is pretty good but be forewarned about all the extra charges to inflate your bill. They are losing customers and it is for good reason.
The food is good. They have made a change that I am not sure is good. They have always given chips and salsa when you are seated. Now they still bring the chips and salsa and DO NOT ask you if you want them. You ask why is this a problem. Well the problem is they don't tell you that they now charge $3.00 for that very skimpy bowl of chips and salsa. So you get them and they show up on your bill without you ordering them. On the way I did noticed the special board and at the very top it read chips and salsa 3.00 so it makes you think this now a special of the day????
We came for the deep-fried flour tacos and they didn't disappoint. Expensive desserts thoughFood: 4/5
