The food was wonderful. The service, not as much. We didn't get waited on for at least 10 minutes, not even water was offered. I was beginning to wonder if we were supposed to go up and order our food, even though it seemed like a sit down restaurant. We finally just got up to help ourselves to the fountain machine as it seemed that's what others were doing, and we were only interested in waters, but the water was carbonated and not to our liking. Thankfully the food delivered, otherwise the score would've been lower.
We had not been here since the new ownership and wanted to give it a try. The person who took our order was far from happy and cheerful which would have been so much more of a welcome. Maybe he was having a rough day... Who knows. Overall the food was good and I don't think this experience will stop us from returning.
The building is a pavilion so nice architecture. The chips served warm and fresh tasting but thought salsa was just average. I had carne asada and it definitely was delicious and tasted fresh off a grill. My mom said her margarita was good. The service could have been more prompt. We were seated right away though. It's a big place you definitely could go here with a lot of people it's nice being right by Detroit Lake. I enjoyed my meal.
The food is good, service could use a little more social practice. The drinks are great and they are willing to swap out Liquor on the blended drinks because let's face it not everyone likes rum in their Daiquiri. The queso with pico is nice and spicy if you have a low spice tolerance. The enchiladas were wonderful. I would go back for the food and drinks but not the service.
Thought I would give this a try since I’m new to Detroit Lakes. My immediate impression walking in was that the smell of cleaner was so strong. It made me nauseous. Was seated at a table and waited 15 minutes for a server to come to my table to get my drink order. No one smiled, no friendliness from any staff. I ordered the Chimichanga trio. The rice was undercooked hard and the meat in my chimichanga tasted like it had been rolled in salt. Some of the steak in the chimichanga was just pure fat, which was very unpleasant to bite into. I could only stomach a couple of bites. I pushed my plate away and when the server asked me how the food was, I told her it was not good at all. Typically I am not very picky when going to restaurants, as I understand staffing has really made times difficult for many, but this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had dining out in a long time. I’m also concerned I may have gotten food poisoning, as I am not feeling well after eating there.
You definitely won't leave hungry. The portions are big enough that 2 people could share a plate and still take home leftovers. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck on some amazing food. I would definitely recommend a margarita on the rocks and the Loro Lindo. It's so good I don't even need to look at the menu, I know exactly what I'm going to order when I walk in the door.
Food was Phenomenal! The service was severely lacking. No greeting when we walked in, no smiles, no one Acknowledged us for the 1st 15 minutes we were at our table. Once we finally got to order, the food did come out in timely manner. Long story short, if you want fantastic food and don't mind rude wait staff this is your place!Food: 5/5
Decent atmosphere—nice and airy. Alambres carnitas was excellent. Queso fundido as well. The hot salsa was outstanding! You have to ask for it—spicy and flavorful. Good margaritas. Attentive staff. The food came out of the kitchen like lighting. I’ll be back. Maybe molcajete next time. Totally spaced the great view of the lake.
I had the worst experience tonight. We ordered takeout and when I went to pick it up a few items were incorrect. I just asked the host that the items I didn't order at all be taken off and the item I did order that was incorrect I was fine leaving as is because it was close enough. That's when things got weird The waitress that took my order came up and proceeded to argue with me and tell me I did order those items. I again explained I didn't but I thought we had a simple solution and it wasn't that big of deal. She argued with me again telling me I was wrong and I finally said "I don't know what else to say besides I didn't order these 2 items." She got very upset rolled her eyes and said "oh my gosh" proceeded to throw her hands up in the air and storm away. I was so taken back by the whole thing I told the host I wouldn't be spending my money there and I left with no food. The whole thing was so bizarre and it should have been handled in a much more professional manner. I had no issue paying for the items I did order but I wasn't going to pay for items I didn't ask for. I won't ever be back.
We each had the Enchilada Rancheras dinner and they knock this meal out of the park. Had to be the best I've ever had. This is our first time at this location and it's a beautiful place with great views. A very friendly place with great help.Recommended dishesEnchilada, Salsa
