The quality of the pork was simply amazing, you could tell that it was slow-cooked for at least five hours! However, the salsa left much to be desired. The staff member who might also be the owner himself was quite helpful and engaging! The little store is wonderfully decorated as well. Be aware that the quantity of food is small and there is no eating area in-store. The food is also a tad bit expensive for reference, 15x more expensive as you would find similar-quality tacos for in Mexico City. If you want to try out the special menu item of the day, I suggest going early as they are quite popular and get sold out in the morning itself!
Such good food. Ingredients made in-house, with tons of flavour and depth. There’s a large menu with many delicious sounding options. I went for the Baja Shrimp and I loved it. The guy was very nice and easy to talk to, and took a lot of pride in his work. Overall a pleasant atmosphere. Will be back for sure!
Ex Chef-First time drop in tonight, had heard good things. Man o man. This guy is nailing it. These are so good I want to take him by the hand into a busier foot-traffic neighborhood and make him rich. He's is such a nice guy and he can seriously cook. Very impressed. What an odd location for such a great product, lets get it into downtown Dartmouth-proper my man! Vegetarian options: There were veggie options, the only one I particularly noticed as that's not what I was looking for was mushrooms in adobo, which sounds amazing. Parking: Seemed to be ample parking. Dietary restrictions: I am lactose intolerant. That wasn't an issue at all.
I visit El Este a few days ago. authentic. great flavor. the best is the attention is great. I try the carnitas and the barbacoa tacos.Food: 4/5
I mixed and matched the 2 piece tacos. One Barbacoa and one Carnita. The flavours were great. But I found them to be a little small. I probably could have eaten another one. Cost was $9.50 for 2. Next time I will go for the burrito. I will definitely go back! Edit: I went back and tried the burrito. I had the beef one. It was a touch greasy but still flavourful. Definitely filling. It came with some chips. He told me he had a new menu coming so I am looking forward to seeing it. I will return! Note: the salsa in the photo is my own. It didn't come with it and I didn't order any because I knew I had some at home.
Super friendly staff, very well prepared food. Everything was great, the Barbacoa Tacos were amazing!!! The spicy salsa was rich and flavorful.
The food here is incredible and all homemade, and the best Mexican food I’ve had in NS. I’ve gotten three different meals now and they were all delicious. The owner offered me extra items as toppings that weren’t on the menu for two of my meals. I will be coming back more often!

Very tasty but I could not believe how little we got for $23 They had about three tablespoons of topping per taco. We ordered four and it looked like it should be two. Need to increase your amount of food for that cost if you want people to come back.
Get the Chorizo Quesadilla, trust me. It's a work of art.Food: 5/5
