If you think the best thing in Mitchell, SD is the Corn Palace, think again. El Columpio is one of THE best Mexican restaurants in the United States. Wow! The flavors, quality, quantity and service is outstanding! We had the fish tacos and barbacoa tacos which both were SO good. If you leave Mitchell, SD without stopping here, you will be sorry you did. It was simply the best meal we had off 90 and we were driving from Seattle towards Wisconsin! Highly recommend this place! Probably in my top 5 Mexican restaurant in the USA!
Great lil local Mexican Restaurant. Staff were amazing and accommodating to our larger group. Food was very flavorful and portions were so large I had to take some home for a snack. Definitely worth stopping in for their breakfast burritos. Parking: Nice sized parking lot plenty of room.
I saw El Columpio was rated as one of the best Mexican restaurants in South Dakota, so when we were passing through I decided to give it a try. We did not have time to sit down inside, but that's alright because they have a drive through window. There was only one vehicle in line ahead of us when we arrived. Be advised that if you use the drive through, there is no menu posted outside. Either look at the menu online ahead of time or ask for a menu at the window. I timed how long it took to use the drive through and it ended up being only 12 minutes from the time we ordered to the time we got our food and were back on the road. The young man working the window was very kind and helpful. The food was outstanding. It's not the best Mexican I've ever had, but was way better than I expected to find in Mitchell, SD. I would definitely come back again next time we're in the area. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu options and pricing available. Parking: Plenty of parking around the restaurant.
Came through on a Wednesday during a road trip through South Dakota. Glad I did. Truly excellent food and very good service. I had the veggie tamales with some rice and black beans. Both side dishes were great, and the tamales were delicious. I was especially impressed with the quality of the tamale sauce. I highly recommend this little gem if you find yourself stopping in Mitchell. Vegetarian options: Veggie tamales and veggie burritos.
Had such an amazing experience! Went about a month ago with a group of 12 and the staff was so organised and friendly. Had the mango enchiladas and it was one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. Everything was taken care of quick and everyone left satisfied. 10/10 recommend
Had Sunday lunch! We ordered Mexican Meal and El Panza platter. Both very delicious, prompt and friendly service. We had still to box a lot. Very recommended
FANTASTIC, delicious Mexican food. The spinach enchilada is surprisingly yummy! Everything we had was good. Everyone who helped us was friendly and professional. Constant cleaning was going on while we were there. Pleasant surroundings - may need to expand; however there were a few empty tables while we were there. I appreciated that we could carry on a conversation without having to speak above the sound system. This will be a planned stop on every visit I make to my brothers.
Good food. Authentic and tasty. Cold beer. Was mostly full for dinner on a Sunday night. Great for the locals and pheasant hunters! Kid-friendliness: Families with kids there and high chairs.
Excellent food and friendly staff. The mango margarita was yummy. They have a seating area that has swings instead of chairs.
