Eggy's Diner - Minneapolis
"Don’t be fooled by the name, Eggy’s is more than just breakfast though it does have an extensive egg-centric menu. Modeled after the homey diners of the ‘60s, the menu is full of items designed to give a home-cooked feel. Think pancakes, grilled cheese sandwiches and burgers. But it has made national news for its crunchy French toast, which was featured on Travel Channel’s “Food Paradise” as a can’t-miss carby dish."

The 20 minute wait to get in was fine, any more you have to expect a wait. The hour and a half wait from when we ordered till we received our food was/is unacceptable. I realize they are short staffed as are most restaurants now, but they were only seating every other table. Biscuits and gravy, pancakes are the fastest and easiest breakfast to make. I'll give them one more try, maybe they'll be faster/more prepared next time.
I have been here twice. Both times it has been very busy but the food was great! If I recall correctly, we had to make reservations each time. If you are driving here, finding parking can be a challenge because you have to find street parking. The staff is always busy and not as attentive as they could be. However, the food and coffee is delicious here!
Decided to take myself out to breakfast this morning, and Eggy's was where I ended up!!! I know this place can be pretty busy sometimes, but I was hoping since it was Tuesday morning they could get me in right away - they did! Service was excellent. Food was GREAT! Coffee was great somehow a lot of places manage to mess up black coffee???. Really good prices, and I took half of my order home for a 2nd meal! This is definitely a place I want to come more often.
Excellent place for breakfast! Very convenient! However, it is VERY BUSY! Especially during the weekend! Be prepared to wait....having said that, the food is terrific but, if it's really busy it's oftentimes overdone. That's not the norm throughout the day though, just during the morning rush. So, if you don't like really crispy bacon, make sure you specify that when you order.....
The best sausage gravy and biscuits ever! Great portions and selection of meals. Get there early they get packed! Staff is wonderful and a full bar. Perfect for hangovers!!
I found this place online on my last day in Minneapolis. The weather was perfect the entire weekend, but on that Monday it was really drab and a bit windy. One of the reviews mentioned that they have really good hot chocolate. I don't know why, but that sold me lol. Upon arrival, no one was at the door the place wasn't packed at all, but when the hostess spotted me, I was seated quickly. They have a really great selection of breakfast items. There were quite a few things that I wanted to try, but I asked my server because usually know more about the food and the people's choices. The server highly recommended the Puerco Picante and Mexican Skillet. I opted for the former, but was later told they were out of pulled pork. She then recommended a new item, Fried Chicken & Biscuit. I hesitated because often times unless it's a Southern restaurant the chicken isn't seasoned so the meal is not tasty. I shared with her that I'm a Southerner and why I was skeptical. She told me that she'd ask the kitchen to put a lil extra season on my chicken and I happily obliged. I also ordered the breakfast potatoes, grits, bacon and, of course, some hot chocolate. I can honestly say, the hot chocolate was delicious. I would've ordered one to go, but when my Fried Chicken & Biscuits arrived I couldn't believe how big the portion was. It was HUGE! This is definitely a dish you should share. I give it a 5 out of 5. It was beyond delicious. The breakfast potatoes were fried too hard for my liking and the grits were horrible, but I think it's a region thing. I think Southerners cook and like their grits a certain way. And that's understandable. Thankfully, my server forgot to put the bacon order in because I couldn't eat one other thing. I couldn't finish my Fried Chicken & Biscuits. I tried, but it was just too much....what a good problem to have. I noticed that as I sat trying to finish my food, more patrons arrived. My server was really nice but not really attentive. I had to call her over to get some more water. But that doesn't take away from my experience, she was really nice and helpful. To management, keep the Chicken & Biscuits in the menu and perhaps, even offer a ½ portion. This is a MUST try while in Minneapolis.
I didn't enjoy the food, there were too many flies in the restaurant, and the service was sub par at best. They were out of corned beef hash and the potatoes lacked seasoning. I wasn't a fan of the hollandaise either. The bacon, sausage links, and pancakes were good.
Great experience at Eggy’s. INTERIOR/VIBE: stylish and comfortable. FOOD: had the American skillet. Love the concept of the skillet dish - a bunch of ingredients with eggs on top. All the food was excellent. COFFEE: very good SERVICE: good A solid 5 stars based on my only visit.
Delicious Crapes! I got the Florentine crapes and my friend got the Nutella crapes. Both were stellar. The hot coffee was really tasty too. It was nice to have a pitcher at the table for refills. We had a reservation and were seated as soon as we walked in which was nice because they were very busy. Our waiter was very friendly. The food took a while though, probably over 30 mins for a table of 6. Parking is always tough around this area which will deter me from coming here often.
Super disappointed on the quality of the food we received- we have no issues waiting around 45 mins for food- but when the French toast comes pooling in water? It turns the bread to mush… we even tried to soak some of it up with a napkin - I ordered over med eggs and received over cooked and super hard old potatoes… overall as out of town folks looking for something local to eat in Minneapolis we were super disappointed. Hopefully if u try it u will get better food!
