Went to the Edmonton Valley Zoo for the first time this weekend. This place is awesome! The winter is actually a really fun time to go since it's not as busy and it's easy to spend more time around the animals. Since there were only 3 of us, we actually got the chance to get into the animal enclosure and get a closer look at Lucy the Elephant. I would definitely recommend anyone to go.

I enjoy the zoo with my kids for the educational aspect as well as the magical one, where my kids marvel at seeing all these animals we know live far away. Of course there are plenty of animals where the educational part includes how animals that are stressed by being in too small of an enclosure for proper sanity often pace etc, or just that they are stressed, but that what we can do is research their needs and find ways to support animals in their natural habitats, including basics like cleaning up litter and recycling etc, so good life lessons overall along with pity for those in confined spaces. Balancen working with what we have.

Love the zoo. While it's nothing compared to larger zoos, I really feel it does help educate our kids about the more local Canadian wildfire and the environment. I'd like to see Edmonton try to make the zoo larger and possibly compete with Calgary's. But it's evident that they are improving with the construction going on around the zoo. It's really improved in the last few years, I'm looking forward to seeing changes in the coming years!

Small and sometimes you have to be lucky to see some of the animals. I've been there at least 8 times with my daughter and have only seen the fox once. They are doing renovations so once that is done, it should look a lot better.

This is a small zoo with lots of features. For the price, it's worth getting an annual pass just to go for a nice walk and play on their awesome climbing structures. I think we enjoy the grounds more than the actual animals, but I never give up a chance to see the seals and sea lions (and a hidden gem climbing area in that spot). The cafe is nice and I love the outdoor seating by the fountain. It is very wheelchair friendly and has accessible bathrooms, though their change tables do not accommodate anyone larger than a toddler. I would love to see an adult change table near the cafe. That would put it over the top for me!
