I have found our experience at the EIA to be wonderful, and have zero regrets registering my kids there. The atmosphere there is warm, welcoming and safe. My kids are in the lower elementary grades, and with my experience I have found the teachers, and Principles to be very approachable and respectful. This School is run by a great team..and kids!
I am surprised to see so many negative reviews. This school is not perfect. If you would like your children to be in a safe and Islamic environment where they will get an education no different than what EPSB offers this school is a no brainer. I am relatively new to the school, my oldest is now in grade 6. I know the school has had challenges and issues as they work through the growing pains of such a large institution but the school is in a very good place at the present time. The current principal and leadership team is fantastic. They are really trying to inspire the students to grow up to be leaders in the community and to make sure they leave a positive impact on society. I love this school for what it is providing my children and I would recommended it. Some would say that my opinion is biased as I have served on the board of trustees for the last 3 years; in fact it is because I had such a strong opinion of the school that I wanted to be more involved and contribute. I look forward to all the exciting projects coming our way in the years to come.
Lets be honest! This school is an "Ehh" Grab some popcorn and read well, you'll understand at the end. There's some good things, some bad. Lets get into detail of those certain things. First of all, the ARABIC program. Is it even Arabic at this point? The Arabic teachers waste our time and teach us first grade Arabic and nothing in detail. When I was in the seventh grade, we had a teacher. She never taught us anything, and i mean anything. 80% of the time she would put on Arabic Fairy Tales and tell us to watch it. Almost every single Arabic Teacher I've had in my life here didn't teach us anything useful, and wasted our knowledge and time. Next, the Islamic and Quran. They aren't so bad; though it could be a lot better. One thing I've noticed in Quran class is how much better I memorized the Quran. This helped me a ton with reading the Quran and praying. The Islamic Classes are fine, there isn't anything special with them, so if you sent your child here because of Arabic, Islamic, and Quran, your not using your money correctly. Prayer is sometimes a nightmare. They're are always teachers that yell at us during prayer. I remember WELL in Elementary how prayer went, and trust me, there was never anything good. Next, the REPUTATION. EIA wants to keep their reputation clean. They will kick out more than 75% of Grade 9 students for grade 10 if they have less than a 75% average just to keep their reputation clean. What?!? They will not tolerate any "bad" behavior as much as using your phone after school. The bullying in this school sucks. As a person whose been in this school for 9+ years, I have gotten bullied more than I should have. The bullies know who they are. Let's talk about the environment. It's quite decent. The school is kept clean most of the time, and the cleaners do a lovely job. The staff in the School are okay, but it just depends on which teacher they are. Some are "lazy" and never mark their work, some do the best of their abilities to help each student, and some just don't do their job at all. It depends. Let's talk about the COST of this school. You heard me, the COST. Oh My God. Why is this school so expensive and for what?! To add an Arabic subject where teachers don't do their job, An Islamic class where teachers don't know what they are doing, and a prayer time which is completely wasted from teachers lecturing us for being in the hallway. The COST guys, the COST. It's NOT worth it unless if your Bill Gates and can afford anything. Let's go to the conclusion. Parents, it's up to you. Do you want your child to come here? Are you able to afford it? That's up to you. Sending your child here is a 50/50. Some outcomes are good, some are bad. If EIA ends up deleting this review, I'll put it back up until they stop. I hope this helped you with your decisions. Give this review a thumbs up if this helped you. Salam.
If you want your children to have a Muslim and Arabic education, the EIA is where you want to send them. Top 10 school in the province in academics and athletics. They also teach the kids manners and respectfulness, which seems to be lacking these days.
Our daughter currently attends EIA and we are very happy with the overall experience and would recommend this school to others.
The EIA has a great track record, of kids learning and reaching the goals they set for themselves . And that could not be done . Without the help of the teachers and staff at the EIA. I have a nephew and niece that go there and they like it a lot .
I came this school because of my religion my son is only 4 years and he is coming about a month i am getting complains , last year and September this year was attending another private school i nerve hard any issues, kids peri school gets more energy and they need to spend the energy but why am noticing teachers want be quiet kids if your kids more energy could not handle and they make me to question my pranting method , also they are telling me the whole class is doing good only your child is trouble maker they didn’t tell me he is bothering other kids but he took out our energy so am I very sensitive or teachers need more training for preschool because what are they expecting from preschool kids to be quiet and listen without training? I don’t think so that will going happen the reason I put there is to learn the school rules not to expected from him to know already I am really confused and mad already I hope don’t force me to quit the whole school ! and I hope the k-g teachers won’t give me like this situation
Beautiful school, wonderful staff! Highly recommended. The Elementary school has an outstanding principal and staff! Way to go
If you’re a parent considering enrolling your child at this school, please read this first and make your decision from there. I had attended this school for nine years, and as someone who is now about to graduate from a public school, I’ve finally come back to write this review. The quality of the teaching can range. For the most part, leaving this school made me realize I was able to achieve a higher academic level than I thought. The workload is gruesome but it really does ensure a better future. This is not what I wanted to address though. If you worry about your child’s mental health, and even physical wellbeing, don’t bother enrolling them here. If your child can cause trouble from time to time, you’ll be wasting 3K enrolling them here, since they have a tendency of expelling students over the most insignificant things. One look at what they punish them for, and you’ll immediately realize they do it based on saving the school’s reputation. They will take your child’s phone and go through it, and if they find something as meaningless as a swear word, or an “affair” they will consider kicking that child out of the school. If your child gets into a little trouble, then get ready to have them expelled with no second thoughts. Why am I saying all of this? Because I don’t believe the staff are genuinely qualified to handle students. Why is their solution to suspend/expel students? To just scream at them that it’s wrong but don’t explain why? How do you think a child will grow under these conditions? I realized how wrong it all was when I entered a public school. One of the students at my school was arrested for an offence, and they called my teacher to bail them out. And the teacher did that. I’m not saying the school is obligated to bail kids out from a crisis like that. But having an understanding teacher that scolds you with MEANING can change someone’s entire perspective. What would have happened if my teacher said no and the school expelled him? He would have been in a worse place. But he’s not. And that’s what changes everything when it comes to discipline. Children grow, and learn, and cause trouble. This is normal. EIA treats it like a crime. I don’t care if you think I’m exaggerating. I spent practically the majority of my life here, with all my memories. Leaving meant I had to drop all of that behind me. And I had no choice but to. It was too toxic. A school system where you are yelled at for challenging authority when it is due is an illogical school system. Moving on, let me emphasize the lack of resources in regards to a student’s mental health. When you are struggling with your psychological wellbeing, they send you to one unqualified staff member that will, without doubt, mess up your mindset even more than before you were sent to them. Why do they do this? What certifications does this teacher have? Why are they telling me my depression isn’t real, and that my feelings aren’t validated? What? Don’t even get me started on how they teach Arabic there. Every new year you start, they go back to the alphabet and how to connect the words. Some sentences. That’s it. There’s nothing special in regards to the curriculum regarding this language. In fact, it’s just repetitive. I feel so bad for my parents that continued to send me there for years on end. Sometimes I’ll look at the reviews of this school, and see how most of the five-star ones come from staff members that are part of the family that founded EIA. It makes me laugh to myself. If you don’t mind the lack of morals and integrity in this environment, you can send your child there. If you don’t mind the condescending staff members that scream in your kid’s face for maybe even no reason just because they can, why not. I think what bothers me the most, though, is when parents don’t consult their children on whether or not they want to attend a certain school. I am not a parent, but I am a child, and I can tell you that your kid wants more involvement on issues regarding themselves. Don’t be that guardian.
