Story
The Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Campus is a satellite campus of Illinois Institute of Technology's Main Campus in Chicago. The Rice Campus caters to working professional graduate and upper-level undergraduate students with course offerings in information technology and management, manufacturing technology and management, computer science, engineering, science, business, and information technology.

To meet the growing technological needs of Chicago's west suburban business and industrial community, Illinois Institute of Technology began offering classes in temporary space in Glen Ellyn in 1986. Following a gift from the Rice Foundation of 19 acres of prime real estate in south Wheaton, the first building on the Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Campus opened in January of 1991.

The 54,000 square foot state-of-the-art building features extensive computer facilities, engineering laboratories, television studio classrooms, traditional classrooms and an electronic library.

Mission
Illinois Institute of Technology's School of Applied Technology offers technology-oriented education and training for working professionals.Courses are taught by Illinois Institute of Technology professors and industry professionals with significant working, teaching and research experience in their fields.

Programs and courses at the School of Applied Technology provide a blend of theoretical content and practical application that utilizes a hands-on, reality-based approach to education. This allows students to apply what they learn in class to solve real life problems. Students learn about new and emerging technologies and the application, integration, and administrative practices used in the effective management of these technologies. Our goal is to prepare students to become technology innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders of the future.
