About Tom Thumb Preschool is a special place for children and their parents to discover the importance of play, the fun of learning and the joy of being part of a community of families. Story Tom Thumb Preschool has a long history of providing quality care for young children in Dunbar and the surrounding community. Tom Thumb is a member of the Council of Parent Participation Preschools in B.C., an umbrella organization that supports and assists preschools in providing a high standard of preschool education. Our Philosophy: A Learning Community for Children and Adults. Where children are valued for their ability to do meaningful work, their wonder and curiosity, their perspectives, and their ability to play. Where families are valued for their bonds and traditions, their ability to play, their commitment to work, home and community and their dreams for their children. Where teachers are valued for their vision, their delight in children, their skill, heart and knowledge, their commitment to families and their ability to play. We cherish what we learn from each other. Mission Tom Thumb Preschool is a community of families whose aim is to provide an enriched nurturing and loving environment for young children where they will be able to play, explore and enjoy this first school experience. Our aim is to help children develop happy healthy attitudes toward learning and positive feelings about themselves as learners. Tom Thumb also encourages and supports the needs and concerns of young families. Since parents and teachers at Tom Thumb share a common concern and commitment to the development of the children, we believe that communication between home and school is an important process for us and that development is facilitated when parents and teachers work together.
