About Dorchester Park is the go-to-destination for boat owners in Broome County & surrounding areas. Park admission is free. Open year-round, 8am-dusk. Story Located on the 1,200 acre Whitney Point lake, with its easily-accessible NYS DEC boat launch, Dorchester Park provides excellent opportunities for sailing, kayaking, canoeing and more. Bring your own boat, or take advantage of rental boats (Memorial Day-Labor Day). Come for boating, picnicking, swimming at the sandy beach, fishing, or just to relax, and perhaps catch a glimpse of a bald eagle soaring over the lake. Three picnic shelters may be reserved for larger gatherings or small family events.
