About:
About The Miyazaki House Society for Lillooet's historical house. http://www.miyazakihouse.com Story The Miyazaki House (formerly the Longford House) in Lillooet, British Columbia is an elegant, Second Empire style house built by Caspar and Cerise Phair in the 1880s. A.W.A. "Artie" Phair was next to live in the house. Mr. Phair was instrumental in bringing Dr. Masajiro Miyazaki from the Bridge River relocation camp in Shalalth to Lillooet to replace the local coroner in 1945, and Miyazaki served in that capacity. Although only an osteopath by credentials, he also served in the capacity of doctor and dentist, and by 1945 was living in Longford House. Dr. Miyazaki bought the house legally from Artie's son, Harold Phair, in 1947. The house was then used as Dr. Miyazaki's office until he donated it to the community of Lillooet in 1983. Mission The Miyazaki House is a monument for Lillooet and a cultural oasis for all ages while keeping the memory and history of the Phair and Miyazaki families alive. We feature local music, heritage and education. Products Post cards
