About American Cancer Society Discovery Shop helps support the fight against cancer through the sale of high quality, gently used, donated merchandise. Story Operated by local volunteers, the Discovery Shop of Kalamazoo, Mich. has provided unique and quality merchandise at affordable prices to the community This quality resale shop is owned and operated by the American Cancer Society, and run by volunteers from the local community. Some volunteers have been with the shop since it opened in 1991. All merchandise in the Discovery Shop is donated by community members who want to support the mission of the American Cancer Society. Proceeds raised from the sale of donated items are used to help fund cancer research and local programs and services. Located in the Westwood Plaza on West Main in Kalamazoo, the shop offers a variety of merchandise including clothing, accessories, jewelry, books, furniture, and collectables.
