About We are a National Historic Site in Port Edward, British Columbia which chronicles the development and impact of the Salmon Canning industry on the Coast. Story The North Pacific Cannery is the oldest intact salmon cannery on the west coast of British Columbia. A small city connected by a boardwalk along the Inverness Passage, NPC consists of original buildings, machinery, and artifacts from the most significant moments in canning history. Exhibits, guided tours, historically-inspired cuisine and the pristine wilderness surroundings tell the story of an industry that connected British Columbia with the world.
