EC: www.hartford.edu/ec or Women's Business Center: www.hartford.edu/wbc Story The Entrepreneurial Center (EC) and Women's Business Center (WBC) provides hands-on coaching and business training for new and expanding small businesses, as well as aspiring entrepreneurs. Through business advising, technical assistance, trainings, mentoring programs, and networking events, the EC helps small business owners and employees to gain the business skills needed to succeed in the marketplace. EC’s cost-effective, high-quality services offer valuable programming for owners in every stage of business. • Develop and implement marketing, business, and financial plans • Identify capital needs and access financing programs • Improve cash flow and financial management • Grow sales and reach new markets • Streamline operations by utilizing business software • Gain confidence in making decisions and managing risks in business operations • Access export and government contract opportunities • Learn management and supervisory skills • Build a stronger and more effective employee team The Women's Business Center (WBC) is an initiative of the EC. The WBC specializes in serving women in business. Our training and advising are focused on the learning styles, qualities, and particular needs that women bring to business. The WBC is funded by the US Small Business Administration (SBA). The EC also offers a number of special programs during the year including the Power & Progress Business Women’s Symposiums, the Women’s Business Roundtable, the Hartford Small Business Technical Assistance Program and the Small Business Technical Assistance Program. Founded in 1985, the EC offers its services to both men and women.
