Story The Essex County Sheriff's Department is a law enforcement agency serving the 34 communities in Essex County, Massachusetts. ECSD operates the following correctional facilities: Middleton Jail/House of Correction, Essex County Prerelease and Reentry Center in Lawrence, and the Women in Transition center in Salisbury. ECSD also operates two Civil Process offices as well as several Offices of Community Corrections (OCC). ECSD works closely with and supports the efforts of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
