About DuPage Habitat for Humanity® is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International®, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Story DuPage Habitat for Humanity® is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International®, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. DuPage Habitat for Humanity® serves DuPage County, Illinois and works in partnership with people in need to build modest and affordable housing. The houses are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest. In July 2011, DuPage Habitat for Humanity opened a ReStore location in Addison, a facility dedicated to helping the environment by repurposing household items and construction materials that would otherwise be thrown out and end up in a landfill. Habitat for Humanity ReStore's main goal is to reuse, recycle and repurpose. Mission The mission statement of DuPage Habitat for Humanity® is to provide opportunities for home ownership to limited income families or individuals, and to put the reality of substandard housing in the minds and hearts of DuPage residents in such a powerful way that unattainable home ownership for these families or individuals becomes politically, socially and religiously unacceptable.
