Made up of a series of beach ridges and swales, the Sanctuary harbors a diversity of habitats which makes it the most biologically diverse area in Wisconsin. On the property are the historic Baileys Harbor Range Lights that used to guide ships into Baileys Harbor when it was the busiest harbor on Lake Michigan north of Milwaukee. Mission The mission of the Ridges Sanctuary is to protect the Sanctuary and inspire stewardship of natural areas through programs of education, outreach and research. Products Over 5 miles of trails are open year-round for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Educational opportunities include summer children's programs, adult and family workshops, naturalist-guided hikes, and special events. Our Nature Store features field guides, puppets, T-shirts, equipment for nature exploration, and much more.
