About MCCDA Head Start provides comprehensive preschool programming to 206 income eligible three to five year olds in Wausau, Schofield and Mosinee, WI. Story MCCDA Head Start provides comprehensive preschool programming to 187 income eligible three to five year olds in Wausau, Rothschild, Kronenwetter and Mosinee, WI. The agency recruits, develops, and maintains a high quality staff of 43 employees. Mission To make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families we serve. In striving to achieve our mission, we will: *Provide a safe, secure, and nurturing learning environment *Create partnerships with families and community resource agencies *Recruit, develop, and maintain a staff that is dedicated to promoting excellence Products MCCDA Head Start is a state and federally grant funded program committed to helping income eligible preschool aged children, their families, and communities overcome the effects of poverty and prepare the children to start school. The agency operates seven state licensed preschool classrooms in three centers: Barrington Center 616 Grant Street Wausau, WI Stoddard Center 5200 Camp Phillips Rd Schofield, WI Mosinee Center 607 13th Street Mosinee, WI The program provides educational services to the children and their parents as well as experiences to stimulate and develop each child's social, intellectual, emotional, and physical development. The program strives to strengthen families and the communities they reside within by providing or linking families to local resources for health, dental, and nutritional services, social services, mental health services, services for children with disabilities, and opportunities for parent governance and involvement. The program's parent education/involvement focus has proven to be an important and positive influence in assisting many at-risk parents to complete their own education, to find jobs, to gain self-respect, to make lasting social contacts, to become more effective parents, and in many cases to break out of the poverty cycle.
