About Camel Riders Restaurant is a fine-dining restaurant located in the heart of the Hiawatha Forest, on the shore of Deep Lake. Deep Lake is one of four lakes that compose the infamous "Chain of Lakes" .Experience the U.P. with us, the way the Yoopers do, EH! Story Camel Riders Restaurant was opened in 1971. However, it was not always a restaurant. The original building was built as a family hunting lodge in 1947. Then. in the late 1950's, four additional cabins were built, creating "Lazy Acres Resort". Soon after the new cabins were built and new owners took over, and changed the original hunting lodge into a restaurant on a whim. The restaurant and resort then became "The Camel Rider's". Your hosts Frank and Sonia Ott have owned and operated Camel Riders for over 15 years. Since then, they have added another cabin, and a beautiful boat dock for water traffic.
