About Established in 2004, Taste of Thailand is quickly becoming renowned as the go-to ethnic Thai eatery of Omaha. Story Taste of Thailand was established in Omaha, Nebraska in 2004 by Chalie and Areeya Malhotra. In 2013 Areeya and her husband Chalie made the difficult decision to retire, but were comforted by the fact the business has been handed over to the capable hands of their sons, Faruk and Rick. Born and raised in Chiang Mai, Thailand; Faruk and Rick Wanna immigrated to the United States in 1994 and attended Millard South High School. Faruk went on to obtain a degree from UNO while Rick began his full time career building his skills learning to cook and manage the family business. Faruk continued as a supporting staff member throughout the years while working full time as an IT. In 2013, with their respective families full support, the two brothers decided it was time to set out on their own and took over Taste of Thailand to serve up their own delicious Thai cuisine!
