About The Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society (VAFCS) was established in 1954 under the British Columbia Act as a non profit organization. More information here: http://www.vafcs.org/about-the-vafcs Story The mandate of the Centre is to meet the needs of Aboriginal People making a transition to the lower mainland urban community. The Ctr. provides programs in health and welfare, social services, human rights, culture, education, recreation and equality for all genders of Aboriginal People of all age groups. Mission "To provide programs and services that will contribute to the cultural, educational, social, economic and recreational development of Aboriginal People; and to support the objectives of Aboriginal self-determination."
