I recently visited the Mirvish Theatre to see Riverdance 30, and while the building itself is stunning, there were a few aspects that affected my overall experience.nnThe architecture of the theater is absolutely beautiful, especially the intricate ceiling, which adds a lot of charm to the space. The theater itself is spacious, which is great, but unfortunately, the sound quality was lacking. At times, the music was so loud that it drowned out the voice of the singer, who had a beautiful voice. It was a bit disappointing not to be able to hear the vocals clearly due to the overpowering music.nnAnother issue I had was with the audience—specifically, the noise from food. I understand people enjoy snacks, but allowing food especially popcorn into the theater was a mistake. The sound of crinkling popcorn bags and the chewing was really distracting, especially during a show where the performers are singing. It really took away from the experience.nnAdditionally, I felt that Riverdance isn't quite suited for children. There were quite a few kids in the audience, and many of them were bored and restless, which made it hard to focus on the performance. The child sitting in front of me was constantly moving, blocking my view, and it was just distracting. If I had known there would be so many children in the audience, I probably wouldn’t have bought the tickets. Perhaps the theater could consider offering separate shows for adults and children to ensure a more enjoyable experience for all.nnThat said, the show itself was fantastic, and the dancers were incredibly talented. It's just a shame that the overall theater experience didn’t quite match up to the quality of the performance
The show was amazing.nEasy to find the venue with two entrances on Young and Victoria street.nOverall the venue was really greatnSeats were comfortable and did not suffer from butt fatigue.nShow time was 10 minutes late.nOrdered some wine during the break but the Cab sav was not a hit to my taste buds and at $11.50 a bit pricy for what you get.nOnly comments on the washrooms is that the ladies lineups are very long.
Ed Mirvish Theatre is celebrating 105th anniversary Great theatre with fantastic performances, sound and lovely decor. Over 1,200 seats but I didn’t like top back seats on balcony. The last musical show I watched Just For One Day. It’s was truly amazing
The theatre is beautiful. However, I came in from the Yonge Street entrance, so I had to deal with this large staircase and I was wearing heels. Not so great. Yes, I know it was a matter of choice when I left the house. So when the usher made a joke and laughed, it actually didn’t bother me. It bothered me more to have to climb up all those stairs.nnAlso, someone else had commented about not being able to download the ticket until the day of the show if it’s purchased online or rather “open” a digital wallet to access it. I second that.nnAlthough it’s not required to rate Riverdance since this review is about the theatre, I would highly recommend it if it ever came back.
This is a beautiful mid-sized theatre with plush seating. It's right downtown and the entrance is from Yonge Street. The sound system is fantastic and the seats all have excellent view of the stage.nnThere's lots of refreshments sold here. They could do with another one or two washrooms as the lineups, even for the men's, are long during intermission.nnThe entrance is a combination of grand-cozy, just like the rest of the theatre. I love this location.nnI attended Phantom of the Opera years ago and now I watched Moulin Rouge. Both experiences were fantastic. Definitely one of my favourite theatres.
