Came in looking to buy a piano today! Was looking at the keyboards after a knowledgeable salesman helped us out, and was testing a few out with my sister before heading into the piano room, when the security guard came up to us and told us to be quiet. We then headed into the piano room and ended up not buying anything because we were off-put by the rude tone and behaviour of the security guard - while everyone else was very nice, it didn’t make much sense to us for someone to tell us to be quiet in a music shop. We’ll probably be back in spite of this because of their large piano section, but not soon.
Beautiful piano room, they were kind enough to let me sit and play for some time and try a few different pianos. The associate gave excellent recommendations based on my preferred styles of playing, and even though I wasn’t looking to buy at the moment, I was made to feel comfortable and welcome in their space. Thank you for your hospitality!
Tried to order something online with a gift card, and so I could get it shipped to the island because I qualified for free shipping, and because there’s no Tom Lee out here anymore, but the site would not accept my gift card, just kept getting an error which was clearly a bug on the site. I tried numerous times from different computers, devices, and browsers. Called and they said I can’t pay for it over the phone with the card. My dad went in to pay in person and asked if they would ship it to me for free since the site didn’t work and they refused, and said I’d have to pay for shipping. Thanks Tom Lee, awesome customer service.
I should have been smarter than to buy a pedal that the sales kid was using to prop up his computer… it was probably a previously returned faulty pedal. I emailed the store a couple weeks after I bought the guitar pedal, asking what my options were to return the boss looper that was malfunctioning. I didn’t get a response, and came into the store as soon as I could. I live on the Sunshine Coast so unfortunately I missed the 30 day return window by a week. Saleswoman laughed and me and told me there’s nothing she could do. I explained how the pedal was malfunctioning and she rolled her eyes and got her colleague to help. He demo’s the pedal and it was working. I explained how the pedal had been faulty and I was still uncomfortable with it. I’ve used lots of boss pedals and they are usually bulletproof… He then said he couldn’t help me out and mockingly noted that it looked like I played the pedal outside…I’ve used it twice, it looks fine. The staff is clearly trained to avoid returns at all cost, and obviously has no care or concern for their customers. Very disappointing. Will not be shopping here ever again.
It's dead here. They only allow one person at a time in the store. Don't bother. It's a shame to see tom lee finaly out of business but man, they need a decent manager here.
Every time I enter a Tom Lee I realize I’m invisible as a woman to the musical bros working there, although if I’m with a man they certainly always talk to them. I WAS asked what I was wanting and told them an acoustic with a pickup and they just walked away. That was it. More service than usual though. After speaking to the manager which I’ve never done in any store in my life until today on Granville and having them excuse the lack of service and dismiss literally everything I said was even more infuriating. Do yourself a favour and go to Long & McQuade. They’re always helpful no matter how you present and honestly, they have way better products. Women are also musicians, Tommy and if someone is trying to share their experience with you, you can in the very least receive it even if you don’t agree or want to make any changes.
I’ve had an amazing experience with the person hired here, all staff were kind and really professional. Recommend this place to everyone.
Amazing store. I like to go visit Tom Lee's just to drool over the instruments and gear that I could never afford. Of course they have everything a musician needs.
Definitely worthy of a stop. The piano section is amazing - very personable salesperson an if you are lucky you just might hear some amazing live music. There is a lot of band instruments, keyboards and sound monitoring systems.
Very respectful, friendly and knowledgeable staff members. The guy I'm not sure his name but he is kinda the main guy there. A young lad. He is super friendly and professional and helped me select my favourite guitar. Thank you man! I appreciate it.
