Eastern Bloc his at the forefront of digital art dissemination, promotion and production in Canada. The vision at Eastern Bloc is to explore and push the creative boundaries situated at the intersection of art, technology, and science, as well as all other emerging digital practices. Hybrid processes and new modes of production are at the core of the centre’s mandate, as is to support the work of emerging artists by providing them with an exchange platform with more established artists, through initiatives of a local and international scale. Through emerging artistic and technological practices, Eastern Bloc advances a critical stance with regards to the many evolutions happening in digital culture.

Eastern Bloc se situe à l’avant-garde en matière de diffusion, de production et de promotion de l’art numérique au Canada. Le centre soutient particulièrement l’expérimentation créatrice dans les domaines croisés de l’art, de la technologie et de la science ainsi que toute pratique émergente numérique. Hybridité et nouveaux modes de production lui tiennent à cœur, autant que de soutenir la communauté artistique de la relève en permettant des échanges créatifs entre artistes émergents et artistes établis au sein d’initiatives de diffusion à échelles locale et internationale. C'est via les pratiques artistiques et technologiques émergentes que l’organisme défend un point de vue critique au sujet de toutes ces évolutions face à la culture numérique.
