Sophie is the best!! I was extremely nervous going in, she was very accommodating and friendly, making me feel comfortable and at ease. I didn’t even notice she had completed the poke till she had said all done. Sophie is the one to go to if you use this lab, keep it up!
Today, I went in for my 2-hour glucose tolerance test as requested by my doctor. I’m currently 25 weeks pregnant, and unfortunately, what should have been a routine procedure turned into one of the most upsetting experiences I’ve had during my pregnancy.nUpon arrival, I waited at the front desk for about 5 minutes to check in — no issue there. I was then called in for my initial blood draw and to drink the glucose solution. I was informed that I could use the restroom if needed, but nothing was mentioned about not being allowed to step outside or stand up during the wait.nShortly after, I ran out to my car — which was parked right outside and fully visible — to grab my earbuds. When I returned and sat down, a staff member named Sophie approached me with an extremely rude tone, telling me I was “not allowed to leave the building.” I explained I had only gone to my car briefly, but she insisted I sit down so she could consult the lab tech. I overheard their conversation, and the lab tech confirmed it was fine that I had stepped out.nAbout 45 minutes later, I received a phone call and stepped just outside still visible through the glass. Sophie came running out and again, with the same harsh tone, told me I wasn’t allowed to leave. I ended my call immediately and went back inside, feeling embarrassed and anxious.nAt the 1-hour mark, I had my second blood draw and sat down again. After another 45 minutes, I felt extremely uncomfortable sitting for so long. I stood up briefly to shift my weight and relieve pressure from my hips and back — very common during pregnancy. As soon as I stood, Sophie raised her voice across the room, saying, “I told you you can’t move — sit back down!” I was shocked and humiliated. I began crying and was honestly afraid to even move to get a tissue across the room. She continued glaring at me from behind the counter, and several other patients in the waiting room noticed and appeared equally disturbed by her behavior.nBy the time I was called for my final draw, I was emotionally exhausted. Thankfully, the lab tech Atlas was kind and professional. She reassured me and provided Sophie’s name and a card to make a formal report. I appreciated her compassion — it was the only positive interaction of my visit.nThis entire experience has made me feel deeply uncomfortable and disrespected. I’ve been using this lab since moving to Glenmore and throughout my pregnancy, but after today, I will not be returning.nSophie showed no empathy or professionalism, and I left the lab in tears, feeling like I had been treated more like a prisoner than a patient — and a pregnant one at that. There was no concern for my well-being or comfort, which is especially important during prenatal care.nI hope this review encourages management to take a closer look at how patients, especially expectant mothers, are being treated.
On a Friday morning opening there was a lineup of approx. 40 people. In 30 minutes only one person was fully processed. The following Thursday ...a dozen people. I arrived 20 mins before opening, was 4th in line and was processed and out the door in 15 minutes. Go figure.
Can’t get in. Even showing up at opening you’re lucky, showed up an hour after open and line out the door. Very small waiting room so everyone’s coughing on everyone. Wouldn’t suggest going here, high chance of getting sick in there and not even getting in. Absolutely awful.
I understand that there are new hours, and on Wednesdays after 4pm you need an appointment. I showed up at 3:58pm, and read the new procedures on a piece of paper. For those who work, getting to Dynacare before 4pm can be difficult. I thought maybe they could squeeze me in, you never know. And I was hoping for at least a polite response, which ever way this went. But no luck. Instead I got a moody employee who was looking for a fight.nnI am aware that customer service has been declining for some time now. I am also aware that younger employees just don’t hold the same kinds of respect for others that I did when I was in customer service. However, to be outright hostile seems inappropriate. To be openly aggressive, confrontational and belligerent is not acceptable. This is still a business. And I walked away as if I had done something wrong, rather than it having been a situation where this attendant could have simply been kind and said sorry not today. I expect more from Dynacare. It seems that kindness is in short supply, and this is clear at Dynacare.
