Had good fish & chips at Duffy’s Famous Fish & Chips. Our waiter Owen was quick to welcome us and our drinks. We were in luck as they were offering fish & chips using PERCH!! A very tasty although fishy choice that should be enjoyed when you get a chance to try perch. For a good fast meal, or just beer mug of the “soup of the day” when in Southampton try Duffy’s Famous Fish & Chips.
My family and I head up to Southampton once a year for a "little getaway". Each time we are there we pick a  new place to eat. We have heard many good things about Duffys fish and chips so we decided to give in a try. To be honest, from the moment we tried calling in our order for pick up, we were disappointed. They didn't have half of the things available we wanted. They weren't even sure if they had hot sauce, they had to go and check. We ended up ordering our second choices, as we still wanted to give them a try. 15-20 minute wait for pickup, no problem! We arrived 15 minutes later, and then had to wait another 10 minutes in line, while the customers in front of us put in their order.  Our food was sitting there the whole time in a bag getting all nice and soggy. We ended up eating what was edible in the car as we didn't want to waste anymore time. The fish was soggy, the fries were cold. The amount of coleslaw was not a "side" of coleslaw, it was not even enough for one full bite. Maybe a separate line for people picking up their orders would be a good idea? Maybe an update on the website stating shortages would be a good idea? For the amount of money we spent on buying 3 meals, we definitely felt we got ripped off. Unfortunately we will not be returning customers.
Burger & fries were amazing! Everything was fresh and tastefully crafted. Price was less than I expected. New owner is friendly, many thanks sir!
Thank you so much for a wonderful lunch today our first time at Duffy's. Owen has suggested the right dish for us today and we were very happy with lunch. We're sure to come back the next time we are in the area. Thanks Owen.
Friday Fish and Chips!!! Jonathan was just as excited to have me eating there as I was!!! Thank you so the staff there that made the experience great. I enjoyed the 2 piece Haddock and Chips. It came with tarter, coleslaw, and huge lemon wedge. The fish was a magical golden brown batter and the fish was cooked perfectly, great balance of tender and flaky! To add to the experience is the massive patriotic Canada Flag, the breathtaking sunset, and a bagpiper, every Friday during the summer, sends off the sun through music! Make sure you stop by and support Jonathan! Side note: please remember that there are a lot of new hospitality employees. Have some patience when dining out again. We went on a Friday, and got great service. Staff were super friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. The fish and chips are definitely worthy of it being "famous." The butter chicken was also really tasty though the portion of chicken could've been a bit more. Beautiful interior and a very fun atmosphere. LOVE the decorations!
Duffy's fish and chips are outstanding. Huge portions and fair pricing. The staff are friendly and make you feel at home. One of the staff told me the batter is an age old recipe and I can see why they would not want to mess with it....its not greasy and is so tasty. Chips are crispy yet tender and fried to perfection. The coleslaw is out of this world, super creamy and delicious. I am not sure if the tartar sauce is housemade but I would wager that it is. We started with the calamari which, again, was out of this world. So tender. I would eat there every day if I could. Next time I visit I will try the fresh Lake Huron whitefish. Also, I would have some dessert next time. I was too stuffed to try it this time. Please go and eat there. You won't be disappointed!!
Very dissatisfied with the food experience overall. First time visit to this locally "famous" spot. The food was extremely average and portion sizes were small for the exuberant prices. I don't mind paying for quality, but this was far from "famous". Calamary was rubbery and possibly the President's Choice variety. Small fish with thick batter. 1 pc fish with my mash potatoes was $18 as shown. Fish tacos were build your own with store bought looking toppings. Poutine was more like fries and gravy. Staff were friendly enough when they spoke. 45 min food prep time for pub fare? Find a locally run, independent fish place in the area and ill guarantee you'll go home happier.
Service was great but honestly the food wasn't the best. Steak sandwich was so chewy and full of gristle. The hamburger was overcooked and almost burnt.
Stopped in for a quick bite while driving through on the way down to Sarina. The place was small but not cramped. And the decor was really nice and eclectic. Very cozy feel. I started off with a fish bisque which was very good, but didn't have any chunks of the fish as I was expecting. The bits of fish were quite tiny, more like flakes, as were the other ingredients. But the broth was very good. It was a large serving as well. For my main dish I had the fish and chips which was one of the lunch specials. The waitress had described the fish portions as being 2 good size pieces of fish about 3 fingers wide. Well mine was much smaller than described. I had 1 small 2 finger using her scale piece and 1 1 finger size piece. It was tasty with a light breading and fried to perfection. Not oily or dripping grease. Just not big enough. My wife had their take on a lobster roll, also a lunch special which was a seafood salad like affair with lettuce on a bun. She said it was good tasting but again no chunks of lobster meat could be seen. Prices were a bit to high for what you got except for the bisque which was the best bang for the buck. Also after reading reviews from others after we left, maybe the problem was getting the lunch specials. The reviews seem to be positive for the regular items. We may try Duffy's again next time we are in the area.
