Do not join the adult education programs. Just waste of your time. they offer unpaid co-ops in this expensive country which is worthless. Out of the pool of numerous students they get 1 person placedthat person too get a job because of previous experience, for that you need to go to an employment agency and not to school for sure just to keep the things on a positive side, but honestly, dont join and waste your time at all. About the co-op, the employers are rude they wont tell you a word, they just get their random work done from you and they wont help you to learn anything. I wasted my time , i missed pay from my surviving job because of co-op and i regret it. you beware.
My son recently moved to st. Pauls from edmond champion . He switched classes which was supposed to start from next week according to their instruction. I received message he was absent while he attended class. I called attendance and how bad they argue and rude they talk when fault is with them. I feel discrimination even with name of christ what a hypocrisy . Their is no authority straight forward to approach.
Shame certain staff Rie Paz Caeserhave to have affairs destroying a family and breaking kids hearts. Her own partner Billy Cousins still unaware about the secret phone calls, even when found out she still continued with the messaging! Herself and her own family have tried to cover it up so people don't find out. Shame on you, that's not a Catholic faith!
Absolutely amazing staff! Everyone was so enthusiastic in helping me with my problem. A special thanks goes to Nancy Russo who didn’t hesitate to go the extra mile in helping me out. I truly cannot thank her enough, she is an amazing person!
I worked at DPCDSB a while back fresh out of school. Like most school boards, there's a mix of good and bad, both policy and people. I've met really great people and dedicated staff who took teaching as their vocation. And I have met those who were only there for the pension and security not that they are not important. I remember my first week teaching. Went to the staff room to eat lunch and said my prayers. When I looked up and around, I found people borderline starring at me. Figured out it was because of the prayer. After that, always had lunch in my room with the kids. That was the first realization that I was too naive and idealistic in my expectation of a Catholic school. People are people. Not that they're good or bad. Some will be more religious, some will not. Some will be more dedicated, some not. Etc... But you also can't pass judgment based on these few things. I see some reviews from parents who were concerned about the school being open during snowy days and how it demonstrates their lack of care for the students' safety while canceling the bus to protect themselves from law suits. That is a possibility. However, I have believed and was told by my principal when I was teaching on the board that the reason they kept the schools open on those days was because there are households where the parents had go to work and could not leave the kids home alone. The parents who stay home always have the option to keep their kids at school. The school remained open for those who didn't have this luxury. Believe me, I wouldn't have minded staying home on those days too, but I got to school regardless and taught what I could with whoever was there mostly would be reviews and catch-up work. Teachers would have been paid regardless, but every single teacher showed up unless they absolutely couldn't. For the most part, I found the teaching staff good and honest as per the general population. Just wanted to touch on this as while I understand the frustration by some parents, it is unfair to pass such large sweeping generalized judgment. There are always more sides and reasons to a situation if you take the time to consider.
I only had 2 teachers ever care about my education.. I noticed I could write a review so I thought I'd shout it out. I had fun making fun of the ones who thought I couldn't be anything, kinda breeded me. Luckily I'm older now and have youtube. Thanks for IDK. But also thanks to those who did care as little as they were. A Math teacher in grade 10 and a History teacher in grade 11 and I'll shout out my grade 1 teacher too! She gets love.
Totally a waste of money and time. The learning methods are way outdated as well as the resume templates etc: They do not care the future of the students, instead need students to enroll in more and more useless courses to ensure they get funds from the government to safeguard their jobs. The list of pioneer companies who have declined giving co-op placements provides ample evidences how low their standards are and frankly they do not mind the students prospects. True that they charge only $30 or something for a course, but higher the number of students for the courses higher the funds they get. That's their business model. If you really want to get a valid qualification, invest your time and money on a college certificate program or a diploma in your particular discipline instead of saving these expired teacher's jobs unnecessarily.
We had opted our kids for online learning in this school year i.e. 2020-2021. DPCDSB agreed and the online classes that were supposed to start 14Sep have still not started. Now supposed to start on 21Sep. The pandemic commenced in March 2020, and it takes a school board such as DPCDSB 6 months to figure out the means to get online classes into full swing?!. Such lethargy maybe because we do not pay fees and the school board teachers get paid no matter whether they work or not during this pandemic. Look at Universities and Colleges - their online classes are in full swing and at 100%. If they hadn't done that as efficiently, then the tuition would have to be refunded. But boards like DPCDSB can go scot free. I am just waiting to see what the quality of the online education will be. Will post more later.....
these days i'm having online school, and my internet always cut out, and i need an offline docs editor, but the administrator blocked it, also 99%of apps and extensions were also blocked, we did not have access to google play, and now we can't even keep in touch on google hangouts. the computer background is set to an image of the head office, which is unchangeable, and they signed me out of youtube, i didn't have access to gmail, and on and on and on!
The textbooks are really outdated, and just recently they had a re-organization in my school. Instead of having 20 students in a class, they changed it to 25 per class. I don’t see how they would have the desks to be 6ft apart.
