We arrived after 8:30 after a long day of driving and we’re tired and famished. The food at Drifters Restaurant was just what we needed. Fresh, hot, tasty and healthy portions. Lots of fresh veg and chicken in both the stir fry and pasta we ordered. And even though we were there just before closing, service was really quick and very friendly. Highly recommend. Hotel room was clean, comfortable and well maintained. Bathroom had been recently renovated. Not a large room for the 3 of us couple and 19 yr old daughter but for a one night stay heading cross country it was perfect. Thank you Drifters!
I stayed at the Drifters Motel while working in the area. The motel is very conveniently located right off Highway 17, on the north side of the highway, and has a fantastic restaurant located within the grounds. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and checked us in within a few minutes. The room we stayed in a "Rustic" room was very comfortable and included a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Wifi service was excellent, and connection speeds were better than I expected. Just one minor issue - the bar is situated along the back of some of the rooms, and we could hear the music and activities while getting ready to turn in. It wasn't too loud, but some soundproofing would be welcome. Noteworthy details: Terrace Bay beach with a view of the Slate Islands is located about 2 minutes drive from the hotel.
Great little spot to stay for the night - very clean rooms and cute rustic decor. Great service at check in too. We ordered from the restaurant chose to eat in our room, I had a steak salad and my husband had a burger and fries - the fries and gravy are unreal, highly recommend.Rooms: 5/5
Wonderful room! Super clean, and lots of parking. Friendly staff, and everything you need to get for your travelling needs. The supper at restaurant was amazing as well. Only drawback, Rm. 102 it was noisy in evening and morning from folks on the exterior metal stairs accessing their rooms on the second floor. You hear every step, and conversation. It was very busy. Over all, I would certainly stay there again. Just try to get a room away from stairs.
Stopped here for a night and was pretty pleased with how clean and nice it looked, except for when I checked in. Was told on the phone the price was lower then what it was when I got to the front desk. They said the manager was the one that made the price and they can’t honour it, but they’ll change our charge the next day when the manger comes in. I still haven’t seen a change yet. They also charge a four percent accommodation tax, so keep that in mind when thinking about the price.
Over priced. There was a junior hockey team there who decided to keep everyone in the hotel awake the whole night. Apart from that, we stopped there because of a snow storm, the heater in the room didn't work. Realised the next morning there was a spare heater there looked like an old fashioned radio. They could have told us. Tried the spare heater and it blew the power in the room. Couldn't make my morning coffee because of that. Couldn't get out of there quick enough. They could put some of their money they're asking for the rooms into heating. The restaurant was okay.
The girl with the oversized fake eyelashes and lip piercings has the personality of a piece of coprolite. Her customer service skills are non-existent. The hospitality industry should have been the furthest thought in her mind when she was choosing a job. The other girl with the single lip piercing wasn't much better. I overheard the owner speaking with another disgruntled guest and not surprisingly, the owners thoughts on his staff align with mine. I wish I'd have stayed at The Red Dog again, and will do so in the future. The pictures of the rooms on their website must have been taken when they had been freshly renovated, in the 80's. Rooms: Dim and dingy, outdated, dirty, smelly, loud.
Called and pre booked a room for the night called around 2pm they lady was super nice said she had availability took all our info gave us reservation number and everything. We had let them know we would not be arriving mail close to 10 or later at about 8:45pm I received a phone call from them saying they had overbooked and was cancelling my reservation. My daughter and I are now stranded for the night with no where to stay. I would never book again at this place!
Very convenient location on main highway with a great view of the lake. Clean rooms offer cute northwoods decor, with refrigerator, microwave in the rooms. We had a great meal in the onsite restaurant lasanga was fantastic, highly recommend. There is also a bar on sight, and right next door are several local establishments including a brewery, bakery and more.
Great breakfast food for a great price. The coffee was really good and they were able to accommodate for me as a celiac. It's located just off the TransCanada highway so it's convenient if you're driving cross country. The service was really quick and the restaurant/bathrooms super clean. Overall a wonderful breakfast stop!
