I am so upset with his office and so called polices!!!! 2 years by no fault of my own there was a misunderstanding about 2 appointments that apparently were schedule for me that I DID NOT know anything about. I had been sent to Buffalo at the same time. Just tried to get an appointment but he REFUSES to every see me because of 2 appointments I missed 2 years ago- again not knowing I even had one let alone two - by the way NEVER got an reminder from their office. What kind of doctor -refusing!!!! Not even willing to discuss the situation. If you are not a prefect patient - he will not see you!!!
He did a wonderful job identifying what mom's problem was and doing a procedure to help her
Horrible new-patient service! I just moved to the area from AZ, and am working on getting doctors established. This office told me to get a referral from a local primary care dr, and also to have my records sent from my current Gastro in AZ. I don't understand why my Gastro Dr in AZ cannot give the referral, as I have seen a Gastro Dr almost all my life because I have colitis, but whatever. Since my new primary care dr in Olean is booking months out, I called Dr Zafar's office to confirm they got my faxed records from my AZ Gastro. They said they threw them out because I did not have a referral! Don't tell me to send records, to just throw them away. Once I finally do get into see my new primary, to get this referral, Dr Zafar's office said that they also are booking months out as well. By this time, I will need refills on my colitis meds or risk getting sick. If you have a life-threatening sickness, and just moved to the area, do not go here! You will die before you get in.
Dr. Mirza has been my doctor for about four years. He’s knowledgeable and I have complete confidence in his care, treatment and testing. I highly recommend him and his team if you need a colonoscopy. As far as I’m concerened, he’s the finest in the area.
I called the office a couple of times to arrange for an appointment. They were haughty and condescending, starting with the first words: "Doctor's office," as if Mirza is too high and mighty to be referred to by name. Then it turns out that only another physician is allowed to schedule an appointment for me: I'm not even allowed to do it myself. It never occurred to them that I might have other obligations in life and need to schedule the appointment myself. It was pretty clear what their attitude was going to be toward me as a patient. I went elsewhere, and found a welcoming, cordial, and respectful reception.
Dr. Mirza is a great doctor who recommends the best for his patients. I have been seeing him for years now and he definitely has helped to control my symptoms.
I was scheduled for a routine colonoscopy. The 2 day prep assigned by my doctor was covered by my insurance. However, I paid a $75.00 out of pocket fee. The day of the procedure, I arrived at 8:00 AM to be told it had been rescheduled for a different day. No one had notified me. Due to my schedule and that I had already done the prep, Dr. Mirza said he could do the procedure at 2:00 that day. I went home and came back. Dr. Mirza completely ignored me the patient. He later said to my husband that the prep had not been good. They biopsied something but it was fine. Not sure who messed up. I also had to pay out of pocket costs due to medicare allowances, deductibles, etc..
I cannot recommend Dr. Mirza. His poorly trained staff did not properly inform me of what was required for an upper endoscopy, and he refused to perform the procedure because I had only a cab ride home and no one to sit with me for the afternoon after the procdure. I have Barretts Syndrome which can tip into full-on throat cancer. So his refusal to perform the procdure would be a death sentence for me.
Many years ago Dr. Mirza was performing a colonoscopy on my elderly grandmother in Olean General Hospital. When I brought her home that evening she was in agonizing pain. I had to call the ambulance and they took her directly back to OGH where they discovered a puncture in her colon causing her to be hospitalized for a long time. I am aware that the colon wall becomes thinner over the years with illness so we did nothing to follow through with this doctor. However years later one of the medical personnel that was in the Exam Room during her procedure asked how she was doing. This hospital employee brought it to our attention that in the middle of the procedure Dr. Mirza stopped with the exam, left the room and never returned. In hindsight at that point in time we should have contacted the hospital on his negligence. Fortunate for him we are not a sue happy family. However I feel that others should be made aware of his medical negligence if they are looking to use him as a gastroenterologist.
Very conscientious and knowledgeable. Is informative with procedural protocol So patients can understand.
