I do not know her name, but she was so helpful and practical! For saving time, I paid while she was copying the key and to reduce the risk of coming back. She made 2 keys, and I want to tell from here that one is worked! Thank you! Smooth service
5 star staff and the guys in the yard. And when you run out of wrapping paper for Christmas the receipts work great ! 5 stars !
Had a really great experience here! I'm not very knowledgeable about wood projects, and particularly as a woman, I've had terrible and condescending experiences at other lumber yards in Toronto in the past. But not here! Everyone at Downtown Lumber was friendly, welcoming, encouraging, and happy to help. The person who cut my pieces was particularly lovely- the gentleman in the yard with the long grey pony. Thanks again for all your help! 10/10 would recommend!
I went to this store to get some trim for a building project. Getting through the yard felt unsafe; no one offered any help, I couldn't find the cashier, and I was seriously concerned about getting run over by a forklift! The trim wasn't organized, there were odds and ends and no two-of-the-same could be found. I spent about 45 minutes trying to find anything suitable.
My lumber order last Saturday was a disaster. They cut some pieces the wrong width so I had to ask them to cut it again, they cut an order of 8 1x3s that were all supposed to be 4' long different lengths that were all off by 1-2 inches, and forgot a part of my order that I had to drive back for. If you need to buy from here just don't let them touch the lumber. At least the front desk people were super friendly and helpful so giving 3 stars.
This lumber yard is amazing!!! The staff outside were particularly friendly and helpful. Will be coming back here for sure!!!
In the midst of a lockdown, Downtown Lumber is the go-to spot for building supplies. Unlike the big box stores, fumbling around to figure out how to pick orders, these guys have been doing it for decades and it shows. A call to order desk, and you get helpful service and advice. They tell you your order number to pay at the door, which is done in moments. Then, you pull into the lumber yard, and the team there pulls your material, and loads it for you, while you stay in your vehicle. Seamless interaction every time. The phone lines can be busy, so just be patient when trying to get through. If you get a busy signal, just call again. It's worth the wait.
Very good customer service got what we needed and were in and out.
I’ve been a patron of this HH for 2.5 years. I am a local business owner. I’ve always gotten good service. The female employees that I’ve mostly dealt with are friendly and helpful. Especially the woman with the blue dyed hair. My experience today was bad enough to warrant me to give a 1 star review. Not having been to this location for over 3 months, I was unaware that there was no longer curbside pickup. I asked the floor manager, a large gray haired man, about the new rules. He informed me that I would have to call ahead of time and that I would have to wait 45-1hr for my order. His tone of voice was very aggressive and his overall manner was dismissive. I proceeded to call and place my order. A man with a European accent took my call. I’m used to the staff being helpful, in so far as making recommendations on what the best options for tools and materials are. Unfortunately this was definitely not the case this time. Again, I was handled very rudely. The staff member was condescending and refused to give helpful advice. Overall it was a disappointing and frustrating experience. In the future I’m going to make an effort to go elsewhere. It’s a shame.
My experience was great, special thanks to Chayanne who not only help me find what I was looking for but also took the time to give me suggestions/recommendations on how and what the pros use.
