The pool is FILTHY. Finally wore my current l contacts and it's actively disgusting. Champagne doesn't look like this. Plant doesn't either. The black scum on every surface is nauseating. City of Ottawa needs to feel it together here.nnThis remains true> Taking a Hip and Back Wellness aqua class. Fantastic Teacher. Really puts us at ease and is ready with a smile and a modification. This is one of the best pools for learning to swim for kids. The pool is on the warm side and is mainly quite shallow. This means that the kids don’t freeze and can learn basic skills in comfort. Once they get up in levels it makes sense to move to a more traditional pool but this place is fantastic as a starting point. Staff have always been excellent. They also run fun summer camps and do birthday parties as well. Can’t go wrong here for small kids.
We love this little gem. We’ve been taking our little on here for swimming lessons since 2022 and it’s such a family centred recreation centre. Above all, the swimming instructors have all been phenomenal. This past swimming session we participated in was strangely difficult for our daughter. She would cry as soon as we got on deck, despite loving the water. One of the lifeguards Karen on duty on Saturday mornings finally helped us out by getting in the pool with our daughter and swimming with her and gradually getting her more comfortable with her instructor. Prior to this, she always helped us by checking in with us and having conversations about ways to support our daughter. After the fourth week and Themis wonderful support, our daughter no longer had issues. Sebastian, the instructor is so much fun and truly knows how to build skill and make children feel safe and comfortable with the water.
I adore Dovercourt, I’ve been going there since I was a kid, and now I spend my summers volunteering as a councillor. Love this little gem!
I bring my son here for swimming lessons, and we have had a great experience. The instructors are friendly and engaging, and there are always lifeguards on duty, which gives me peace of mind. While it’s not an Olympic-sized pool, it’s still spacious enough to comfortably accommodate over a hundred people. I would highly recommend it for kids’ swimming classes.
