Very informative and lots of exhibits for your enjoyment. And the soup is excellent!!
The discovery Centre was a good experience and we applaud their effort to share their culture. The staff was friendly and the grounds well kept. We were offered a choice of a self tour or guided one; and did the self tour. I would suggest some sort of exhibit being put together which shows a simple chronological history/experience of their treck from Russia to Canada and from Saskatchewan to BC at the beginning. Also some info on "the Doukhobor Issue" and the loss/abandonment of land and why the split with the original group. All in all well worth the ticket price. THE VILLIAGE BISTRO The Borshch at the newly opened Village Bistro was GREAT!...... and the staff friendly but unfortunately the menu overpriced & portions small. Having to leave the dining room and go outside to a different part of the building to access the washrooms was also inconvenient and kinda weird. Like one of those old fashioned gas stations.
Wonderful stop if you can try the food you won't be disappointed.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A smaller discovery center, a lot of written information and donations of artifacts to view. We were visiting from Edmonton Alberta, so we had no clue about this center or the history it shares. I would have loved to have an employee walk me through and rally teach me. Sadly no employees other than in the gift shop.
This was a reproduction Doukhobor village with an excellent history museum and many true artifacts. The Doukhobors were pacifists expelled from Russia who eventually ended up with many settlements in BC Canada. Very interesting story.
The tour was fantastic and the young lady that was our tour guide was amazing. If your in the area you should stop here and learn some history.
I was taken away exploring the discovery centre and could have easily spent more than a hour there. Plenty of amazing artifacts, photos and history to see and learn about. The staff are inviting, knowledgeable and friendly. Tip: There is an amazing view behind the statue. Bring your
My nine year old said he wasn't bored one little bit. It was great to walk around and see all of the exhibits. There was even air conditioning, which was unexpected. The buggies were a highlight, especially the sled. Nice items in the gift shop, too. We were very tempted to get something.
They kept the authentic artifacts and showed the old life of the doukhobors very well. Very kind staff tooVisited onWeekdayWait time10–30 min
Some of the exhibits were closed when I went so that was disappointing but overall it was decent. Lots of cool stuff too look at and I learned a few things along the way.
