My father has a Craftsman self-propelled walk-behind mower that he bought new about four or five years ago, and early last summer it mysteriously conked out and stopped working. Wondering what to do, we initially took the lawn mower to Taylor Rental where they do some engine repair work. They wanted about $150 to simply open the mower to diagnose the problem. Figuring this was an absurd amount of money to pay when there were no guarantees they could even fix the problem, we went searching for other options.
I live out of town, but I did some online searching for my dad to find a place to have his mower repaired, and I came across Doug's Small Engine Repair. After seeing great reviews on Google and Facebook, I sent the information along to my dad. He contacted the business, and they were off.
Doug apparently came and picked up the mower from my dad (he was over in the area) and then brought it back when it was fixed. He not only fixed the problem, but he did so for reasonable cost. Beyond that, we were happy for the opportunity to support a small business and have small engine work done by a reputable professional who knows what he is doing, rather than a business that is just trying to make a buck. We will certainly use Doug whenever possible for any future small engine work.
