MUST GO for train fans with CN VIA on one side and EXO and CP on the other side the place is perfect for waiting inside with amazing crews at the station also easy to head to the platform with the announcements and it's well maintained
Warning! Do not park in the long term parking lot! If your car is newer it will be stolen! My car was stolen. Police later told me cars are stolen from here every week. I wish I would have known beforehand. We parked here to take a break from driving from Ontario for our vacation. The police called me the next day to tell me my car was stolen. Police also said the airport long term parking is just as bad, and better to park at a hotel that has secure parking. The station itself is okay. VIA trains are comfortable and clean. But be warned about parking!
Excellent customer service from all members of the VIA Rail team today May 18, 2024. The VIA Rail team on train #65 car 5/6/7 all deserve a huge round of applause for handling the 4 hour delay due to the suspicious package investigation in Kingston, Ont. The constant communication from the train conductor kept all passengers myself included in the loop during the whole delay. The VIA members serving car 5/6/7 Dean’s team & The French guy provided passengers with granola bars, crackers and hummus for vegans, pizza and did not hesitate with the water or request from passengers myself included. Worst train station ever! This is the connection for the airport, but the station is bare: no shops, no food or coffee except from vending machines. Even cleanliness is only a 3 - bathrooms not checked enough for the volume of traffic. Had to wait 3 hours with no amenities. Should’ve stayed at the airport longer! Via Rail has let the ball down here…
The Dorval Via Rail station is conveniently located close to the airport and the free shuttle makes using it all the convenient because this station is meant to serve travelers going through the Dorval airport.nHaving said that, I cannot give it a good review as long as Via Rail keeps adding unnecessary, almost non-justifiable, restrictions on luggage dimensions and weight, seemingly jumping on the airlines' bandwagon of greed which makes the Dorval station almost irrelevant.nI think Via Rail has the potential to become the defacto transportation provider for Ottawa travelers going through the Dorval airport if they give more prominence to travelers' needs and convenience.
