Sister Bay doesn't have a lot of dining options compared to other towns in Door County, but that's especially true of carry-out eateries. My wife and I were drawn to this place, thinking we could grab some sandwiches and head to the beach. Upon entering, this was more of a bar than a deli, though they did offer carry-out (for a slight surcharge). My wife ordered a mushroom wrap, which is the sole reason for the 2-star rating. If it were rated on my sandwich, they should give me stars instead. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich because they self-advertised it as being very good and their specialty. They also advertised Boars Head meat, which I've been pleased with in the past. The sandwich I received might have been the worst sandwich I've ever tasted. It didn't have any BBQ sauce on the sandwich, but rather in a cup on the side. I thought this was odd -- how can all of the sweetness and tangyness of the BBQ sauce be infused into the pork without being cooked with it, at least a little bit? The sandwich also smelled a lot more like bacon than pulled pork. But the worst part was the grease -- it was like my bun was soaked in grease and it kept pouring out of the sandwich. Pork is traditionally less fatty and greasy, especially when it's a shoulder cut that's slow-roasted for most pulled pork meals. So I was altogether confused by this sandwich because it didn't resemble any pulled pork sandwich I've ever experienced. I suppose I could have returned it, but if they couldn't get pulled pork correct (which they proclaimed was one of their specialties), then I was afraid of what they'd give me in exchange.
