Dong Hae is my all time favorite! It was my first time at this location, I was a little hesitant but once we got in, I saw a familiar face and that made me happy. The manager from the Minneapolis location Lee was there and was kind and helpful as always. I enjoyed the food, I tried new soup noodles. I love everything about both locations. This restaurant will be my go to for Korean BBQ. Thank you all for your hard work you put into making these delicious meals. As you can tell, I love food lol
Everything tasted really great and I enjoyed everything they had! I even loved their side dishes! The service was really kind too and the owner would talk and check in with the tables to make sure everything is going alright. The only small issues is at first it was a bit confusing with the different menus and where you can sit. Also be aware they do charge a service fee, which is understandable but the final price here may come out to be pretty high.
There were 3 of us and we shared a Large beef and pork combo BBQ. Was it worth $120? I would say no. For the amount of meat/food you get it's not worth it. The pork was seasoned really nice but there's no seasoning at all on the pork belly. The beef short ribs were tender, there just wasn't that much. It came with an assortment of sides and a bowl of rice per person. During our time here there was a lady that came and cooked everything for us. Is this normal? I don't know, first time at a K bbq place. It wasn't like the dramas where you get to slowly cook and enjoy your food. She cooked everything very fast and we didn't really get to enjoy or savor our hot food. Cause the food got cold fast. 1 hour in and she brought out to-go containers and the check without us asking. Felt like we were being rushed out the door. The 3 of us ladies wanted to chat and catch up but this definitely isn't the restaurant for that. It wasn't busy at all either. The service was fast. There was a guy that refilled our water and was very nice. I don't know if I would return, but I did also ordered the seafood pancake and that was delicious. It came with a very good dipping sauce. I would order that to go if I'm close by. Also, on the menu it does say 18% charge tip? on all buffets/K bbq. We also got charged an extra 4% but this was not mentioned anywhere that I could see in the menu or restaurant.
This was my first time doing Korean barbecue so I went with my brothers who are very experienced. They really like the food quality and the service. It is a very nice restaurant nestled in the suburbs. We would definitely go here again. Parking: Plentiful parking all around in the parking lot of them all
Was ok, just felt portion to value not there. Bibimbap- meh. Spicy chicken wings- lol plze remove spicy from description. Easy on batter too plze. Asian male waiter great tho- always checking on us and dishes came out quick. Unfortunately, they can charge premium pricing cuz korean food scarce around here. Have also had kbbq here other times and meat options for prices listed pretty sad. Would avoid if i didnt hate mpls traffic n parking so much.
Great experience!! Took my party of 17 to this amazing Korean BBQ place and everything turned out great. Called in to inform about my party and accommodations needs first and the host prepped everything in advance. The restaurant have two divided dine options. One side for Korean BBQ cook your own dish and dine to order from the menu. We did the Korean bbq option. The waitress explained the proper way to cook each meat and if we needed more sauce or kimchi to let her know. Remember to wave down for your waiter or waitress for assistance as it customary vs. waiting for them to come to your table. And, no this is not rude. As long no attitude is intended. I apologize I forgot to take picture of the menu. They do have a combo meat options along with appetizers, noodles, soup, sushi, rice platter and hot pot. I did the large beef n pork meat combo with kimchi soup, cold noodles soup and chicken wings. Will recommend and come back again! Prices are a little heavier then others Korean bbq place. But service and food portions size are worth it. Keep in mind, if you use credit card, there will be a 4% surcharge fee along with 18% gratuity charge regardless how many in your party.
The food was great! Pros -Bulgogi was tender and flavorful -Jepchae wasn’t oily and flavorful -the dragon roll was so yummy and not packed with a lot rice. A good portion. -my boyfriend loved the kimchi gigae -the dumplings/pot stickers was amazing and crunchy IN BETWEEN -jajameung was on point but noodles were slightly hard. -shrimp tempura was good and fully cooked but it almost tasted a little too slimy. I think it’s more of my own personal preference for it to be cooked a little more but to each their own. -dolsolt bimbimpap did not have a taste to it. Seemed like regular rice with veggies and meat. However, I loved that it had a lot of variety of veggies. -side dishes were good but a little dry. The kimchi didn’t have a bitter taste and was crunchy but was really dry. Cons -the automatic 18% tip may be a little upsetting on a day they’re missing orders or getting a bad server. However, on the day I went they served us rather fast and timely. -seafood pancake was soggy and did not have as much seafood as anticipated. There was a lot of bell peppers. -we got a non refillable aluminum can of coke for $3. TIPS FOR NEW CUSTOMERS: -only order the large portion stuff like jajangmuen and bimbimpop when you have a party of 3+. It was such a struggle to finish all the food. -surcharge as of today will be $10 for leftover food.
Very quiet Sunday lunch. Cute location and space for sushi, non Korean bbq, and Korean bbq grills. All in their respective spaces. Got the marinated mix of bulgogi, galbi, chicken, and ribeye. The grill wasn’t too smoky or burned, marinade was a little on the salty side today and slices were inconsistent. But nonetheless, we enjoyed our meal. Rice doesn’t come in individual bowls, it a shared one. No purple rice, each restaurant is different Ordered a seafood pancake, and it was the best one I’ve tried in the twin cities! The consistency was crunchy and full of fillings. The rice cakes were super soft and delectable. Also got a yukaejang, which was all right, and the portion was huge. Could have gone without. Banchan’s were not the greatest. Overall, very pricey. Go for the apps and choose individual meats rather than the bundles unless you have a lot of people. There were only 3 of us. 4/5 stars for appetizers 3/5 stars for mains Just my general opinion.
It was so good and so fast, I forgot to take pictures of my untouched food! Very good service and quiet during week nights. Slightly pricey for the quality but solid atmosphere and taste. Great customer service :
Pro Tip: Service Charge = Gratuity = Tip I decided to go to this Korean BBQ place despite its reviews. It was average food. The beef was the best. I wish the chicken breast was cut in small pieces to easily eat and cook. The dumplings were not good. Kimchi Soup was okay. My biggest complaint is the deception my waiter played when asking for clarification about the bill. My brother asked several times if the service charge was the tip it was 18%. The waiter said “No” all Korean BBQ have a service charge it’s NOT the tip. I then looked at the receipt and read the bottom that said “automatic 18% gratuity for customers who do Korean BBQ”. To be sure, I personally asked the waiter if the service charge was the same as the tip and he blatantly said “No it’s not the tip”. He then hovered over me to grab the receipt as he was closing out and needed it right away. After sitting in the booth reading the receipt, I decided to ask a different person if the service charge was the same as the tip. The nice gentleman at the front said yes it is and gave me a different receipt to sign. This means the waiter who was white and tall lied so he could get double the tip 52 + if I didn’t ask more questions. I was unsure about what service charge meant because at other restaurants they do a service charge of about 7% for fair wages and for them it’s NOT the tip. Usually receipts will say Gratuity. Anyways I’m thankful the guy fixed it. What a way to start the New Year
