Very poor service!! Just out walking stopped in for a bag of sugar with just a small knapsack and coin purse. No cards. Three checkouts were full. One staff member at customer service reading paperwork. Asked could she checkout my 1 item since I couldn’t do self checkout with cash. She said it wasn’t fair to other customers. I said there’s no express checkout open for 1-10 items and I couldn’t use cash at self service. No go. I left the sugar on the counter and left. Wow!
Lots of gluten-free options, including all varieties of Chex and other GF cereals, GF cookies, bread and my favourite President's Choice gluten free hotdog buns. Not the biggest GF section I've ever seen but definitely will meet most of your needs if you have celiac or don't eat gluten for any other reason.
The prices are outrageous compared to Walmart. Some items are DOUBLE the price classico pasta sauce for example. Also they added these weird corrals to the lobby that make me feel uncomfortable. I think they're for loss prevention but as a law abiding customer it makes me feel like cattle or something. Absolutely terrible place to buy groceries.
Visited the Mt.Pearl store on Saturday & was appalled at how bad the service was, store extremely busy due to the thanksgiving weekend. With bumper to bumper carts in line ups, only 2 checkouts open & spent 30 minutes in line up, to get a few items checked out.
Never any cashiers. Horrible service. Never thought id say id great to shop at sobeys.
