Dino’s Pizzeria is a family run business, started in the 1970s in Kirkland Lake with family recipes & fresh ingredients that customers have grown to love!
As an immigrant from Sardenia in 1959, Salvatore Pittui came to Canada to find work in order to support his family back home.
In 1972, he ventured out again to start his own italian restaurant, Dino’s. Finally, in 1975, he purchased an old gas station. He saw this location as an awesome location for his future pizzeria, and important to note the first and only pizzeria in Kirkland Lake at the time. His mission since his arrival to Kirkland Lake was to introduce and share his love of authentic pizza to the area. Therefore, Salvatore Pittui is the founder of Dino’s Pizzeria as we know it now in its present location and success.
He is a pioneer of an italian restaurant/pizzeria to Kirkland Lake.
In March 2005, Serge Génier, a native of Kirkland Lake ON, took over Dino’s Pizzeria.
The original owner, Salvatore Pittui, passed down the family recipes which are still being used today. Serge introduced a whole wheat crust, and, in working with the local schools, he created a pizza that conformed to the Healthier Menu Guidelines that schools must follow.
In June 2015, a second location of Dino’s Pizzeria opened in Ottawa. It all came about when Serge’s nephew said that Dino’s pizza was his favourite, and asked why Serge didn’t open a second location in Ottawa just so that he could eat it at any time. After doing some initial research, everything fell into place once Serge found the right person to partner with. Wayne Adair is the managing partner in Ottawa and operates the new location in the same manner as Serge operates the one in Kirkland Lake.
