Ordered take during CNY week, other places were closed so we tried Dim Sum Garden. Overall the food is good and is your typical winnipeg-chinese food, not bad but not authentic either. We enjoyed the deluxe shrimp dumpling and the Szechuan hotpot dish and would highly recommend it. The sweet and sour intestines were funky and were accompanied with pineapples but no sauce? had it before from other chinese restaurants but was not as smelly as these. The pork bao was mostly bread, the siu mai and fried dumpling were ok, Har gow would have been better if the skin was thin, but the chilli sauce was very good and definitely saved this meal!
Good place to eat in Chinatown, service was fast and food was warm, real bonus is during happy hours! A++Food: 5/5
Good quality dim sum for a good price. My only jive about dim sum garden is the tea cups often have a strong smell of bleech that makes it hard to drink tea out then when your getting a big whiff of bleach. Otherwise I think dim sum garden is great place for dim sum and would definitely recommend it to a friend.
The new location is in the old Marigold Restaurant on King. The food is great. Last time I was there, they forgot a dish. I had to remind them we ordered 8 dishes but got only 7. Never had that problem before so I will chalk it up to them being busy.Food: 5/5
Worst experience.. if I could give negative 5 stars I would. We waited over an hour for our order of 5 dim sum dishes. We asked for an empty glass as my daughter likes to have her own drink so I just give her a small amount of Pepsi. They wouldn’t give us because they said they didn’t have much and couldn’t spare any. We were with my 2 young kids and both were so hungry they were crying. Ended up leaving before our food arrived since we could not wait any longer and had to feed my kids. Will never go back.
One word comes to mind....Gross. We actually were planning to go to Kum Koon next door but apparently they're closed on Mondays so we thought, let's give Dim Sum Garden a try. After waiting for at least 5 minutes with NO ONE waiting in front of us, we were finally seated, next to a large bussing tray full of dirty dishes sitting on the floor, next to a broken/in-operable pop machine again sitting on the floor, next to a variety of 2L pops I guess in lieu of the broken pop machine, you guessed it, sitting on the floor. Water and tea was brought over immediately but that's the last we saw of a server until we left about 15 minutes later as it was clear we were being ignored. A gentleman dining alone, one table away, who came in much later than us was doted on, served immediately as we watched in dis-belief....I'm guessing he's a regular who must tip well. After we saw a commotion at another table over a long stray hair in their food, we'd seen enough. We just got up and left.....never going back.
The food is not bad. The turnoff is the odor emitted from the worn out plastic bowls, tea cups. The smell from the dishes makes you want to throw up. They've recently moved to the old Marigold building on the corner of King and Alexander. Seems that they've taken those bloody dishes with them. Pity.
The food was pretty fast coming out first round, but they don't really have an order on what they send out. I like going here because my family just eats like a tapus. Worth your money during happy hour.Food: 5/5
No the nicest looking restaurant but but they are serving some great food at a great price. I have tried a lot of stuff here but some of my favorites is the short ribs with black beans, tripe in special sauce, and salt and five spice shrimp skewers.
